I went to the er on Sunday night and was taken care of by an amazing staff. I had to do a surgery on Monday. The care of the full staff was amazing. Holly took care of us through the night and made sure I was as comfortable as I could be but also that my mom was comfortable enough to get some sleep as well. I am thankful to the whole team from the nurses, CT operator, and surgical staff that took care of me.

Zero sense of urgency in the emergency room, even if you have a laceration and heavy bleed to your face. After 2 hours of not being checked on and controlling the bleeding ourselves, we asked how much longer and were snottily told they didn't know because they were "soooo busy and we only have one doctor". There were only a couple other patients there and staff was not moving from their desks. It's difficult to treat patients from a chair.

Called ahead as we had not been there to make sure they were not an urgent care as we have been down that road in the past and they do not have the machines to diagnose the problem my husband was having with his back. The women that answered was rude. That should have been our first sign not to go to this place. We get there and get checked in and there was no one else in the waiting room. Was moved after half hour to another waiting room in the back. Waited there another hour and was finally called back to a room. My husband had come in barely even able to walk due to severe back pain. Once in the room the nurse, who was nice, took vitals and told us then, an hour and a half later, that it would be a while because they only had 1 doctor there. That would have been nice to know when we were checking in and we would have went somewhere else. We waited over an hour for the doctor to come in for literally 5 minutes and had my husband do a couple of stretches to see what hurt and where and said he needed an x-ray. I asked if nothing was seen on the x-ray would they be doing an MRI to see if it was a pinched nerve and he said they could not do an MRI because there were no signs of neurological problems going on which I thought was ridiculous. Waited another half hour for x-ray which the 2 women that did that were great. Waited another 30-45 minutes for doctor to come in and tell us he did not see anything on the x-ray, which we knew would be the case. He said he could give a steroid and anti inflammatory shot and prescribe some pain meds. Waited another half hour for the nurse to come in and give him the shots, which again they were pleasant. Then waited almost an hour for them to finally discharge him. The nurse kept poking her head in and telling us that they were just waiting on the doctor to write the scripts. Once we finally left, we go to the pharmacy we asked the meds to be called into and only 1 of the 3 the doctor said he was giving was actually called in and by the time we were able to get the info the pharmacy was closed. All in all we were there over 6 hours for them to tell us they "think" it is a pinched nerve but had they did an MRI, we could have received a better diagnosis. My husband is now going to his physician that was not available yesterday and our trip to this ER yesterday was a waste of money and time. We will not be returning ever to this ER. The only reason I gave a 2 was for the nurses who were pleasant to deal with.

Just wanted to give a review about this location because healthcare has definitely changed after the COVID19 shutdowns and mandates. I have had great experiences at the Kansas Medical Center ER located at 21st/Webb as it was located near our residence. The staff was always friendly and professional which is appreciated for a busy mom that gets some pretty sick kiddos over flu season.
However, the care and consideration of patients have magically disappeared since all clinics and hospitals will not allow parents to stay with their children if she has other little ones in her care. This leaves momma's in a tough spot if she is the only parent avaliable given her husband's work schedule or personal situation. All that said, I wasn't treated very well when I arrived to the front desk. The receptionist was unprofessional and quite dismissive of our situation. She didn't even acknowledge that we are already anxious given a sick child and overwhelmed parent flying solo. From there it quickly went downhill. The nurse we had was rude and even called security as I passed everything over to my spouse that finally arrived from work. Apparently we were not allowed to communicate to one another as I told him the condition of my son, nor did the nurse over our case provide him with any information of our son's lab work. All of which was odd if not unprofessional. She then opened the door and asked me to leave...cause you know, new regulations.
Look, I get it that people are trying to add extra measures for safetly during a pandemic. But can we please maintain great customer service and bedside manner? Please, don't allow healthcare workers to hide behind these senseless protocols and treat you horribly in the process. I would do my research before running to the nearest ER in the future. Be safe out there!

I was in Wichita today for another appointment, when suddenly I began having severe abdominal pain. The KS Spine Hospital told me about a new urgent care facility on 21st & Webb Road. My husband drove me there & I received excellent care & a unexpected diagnosis. I was told I was trying to pass a kidney stone. This was confirmed by a CT scan & I was also told I had another kidney stone in my kidney, which would find me passing another stone in the future. The staff not only kept me comfortable by easing my pain, but the staff was very compassionate & caring, throughout everything. Thank you so much to Dr. McNeill & Nurse Lori for keeping me informed about everything. I would also like to thank the excellent care I received in radiology & the nurse (whose name I didn't get) who was able to stick me on the first try to draw blood from my very small, movable vessels. That doesn't happen often. It was nice to see that there are still staff who care about their patients.

We took my son to the ER because he woke up with a bad cough and labored breathing. We were admitted incredibly quickly and the staff was kind and took us seriously from the start. The nurses and doctor were very good with our son even though he was pretty upset. They explained the treatment options and the pros and cons of the different options. After treatment, my son quickly improved and they monitored his breathing for a while before sending us home. We highly recommend the Kansas Medical Center for emergency situations.

Came here with my pregnant wife who had pain and swelling in her face and neck region. We had been to our family DR and left without answers due to needing more tests done. Came here due to an increase in pain and swelling was spreading. When we told the DR what our family Dr. said we were more or less brushed off and told that we shouldn't be Dr. shopping and that we were more or less the problem with why ERs take so long. His "assessment" also included informing us of the different types of patients he had seen that night which included someone passing. Overall the Dr. was incredibly condescending, unprofessional, and left us questioning his care and medical advice.
