Came here for the first time on 12.27.24 with my family for dinner. The interior of the restaurant is minimalistic and chic. The fold was very delicious despite the fact that my kids were not fans of the cold soba noodles that they ordered. I'm giving this review 4 stars because as you soon as you order at the tablet at the table, it already asks you to pay and tip even though you haven't seen your waiter yet. Altogether, we enjoyed our meal there.

Heard of this restaurant from TikTok! It was a cool and chill experience. I loved the aesthetic and ease of the entrance as I was escorted to a table. Very modern concept to order food via the tablet. Then the food is taken to you. I honestly really loved the pork belly as my appetizer for it was juicy and paired really nice with rice! Then got a plate of the katsudon! I absolutely loved how crispy it was and was able to taste other little appetizers from the bento box! Recommend trying this place out!

Fantastic place for Japanese-style meals. Portions are generous and can easily be shared among three people. The ambiance is wonderful, and each dish showcases unique presentation!

In comparison to other Japanese or Asian restaurants, Abe Japanese Restaurant provides exceptionally generous portions at a reasonable price point. I must admit, the quantity of food provided exceeded my expectations. The dishes I ordered were abundant, and the pricing was quite reasonable, resulting in a highly satisfactory dining experience. If you seek an establishment where you can indulge in a hearty meal without incurring significant financial strain, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment. Both the portion sizes and the prices are exceptionally favorable. Furthermore, the quality of the cuisine is commendable.

12/20/24- Tried the chicken teriyaki and karaage bento boxes. Both dishes were awesome and sufficient quantity. Even the side of tempura veggies , shrimp and sushi rolls were flavorful.
We also had the tiger roll which was basically sushi roll with shrimp tempura in it.
Loved the chicken gyoza fried. My kid loved the food.

Would surely visit again.

Good. But...service and timing of meals out of. Got our drinks, appetizer quick. But I got my main entree quickly. Other person at the table had to wait a bit for theirs. Should be brought out at same time. The okonomiyaki was different. Usually more batter. No cabbage. But mushy. Flavor good. Be nice if protein choices was offered besides seafood . My spicy pork ekiben was really good. The appetizer spicy gyoza was good.

Solid overall!

Soba noodles were nice and chewy with some bounce and the dipping sauce was nice and balanced - probably the better ones in dfw I’ve had so far.

Kimchi Katsu - not bad

Both were tasty, but I probably would eat the spicy dumplings again bc who doesn’t like dumplings ?

This was such a unique dining experience. It is so fun to try new things! This is a great Japanese comfort food restaurant in Carrollton that is located in a shopping center with predominantly Asian restaurants. You could enjoy a different restaurant everyday in this area and it would take quite some time to exhaust them all.

The decor is minimalist and very clean. The tables are pretty large and would fit multiple items or large bento boxes and not be crowded. We ordered unsweetened ice tea and it is freshly brewed which was appreciated. We started out with the Sunomono (cucumber salad with vinaigrette dressing and shredded crab.) This was such a delicious, light and refreshing appetizer that I would definitely get again.

For our entrees we ordered the Unagi Ekiben containing grilled fresh water eel with Japanese style side dishes over rice. The Ekiben was served with shrimp tempura, miso soup, and side salad. I rarely eat tempura but the shrimp was absolutely delish dipped in the vinaigrette that was in the cucumber salad. Wow! It was a flavor explosion and perfectly crispy. The eel combined with the Japanese fresh pickles was an abolute umami bomb and I loved it. It was fantastic. My husband ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box and enjoyed (that tempura yam!) although the chicken was a touch dry and he said he would probably order the eel next. The menu has so many nice choices that it was difficult to make a decision! Oh well! I guess I better go again some day and try some more of Abe's delicious morsels!

I highly recommend this restaurant. You can tell the owners operate with excellence.
