I’m usually not one to post reviews but for the amount of money we spent here I was VERY disappointed. We stayed for two nights. Had a king room which must have been on the “new” side because that room was actually nice but had a double room that was absolutely disgusting. Mold on the walls. The sink was rusted. Ceiling had water damage and paint was peeling off the ceiling. The restaurant was horrible. We were the ONLY table there and it took forever to get drinks and forget about refills. Spending $95 on dinner for 4 people to have horrible service and terrible food is unacceptable. And for nasty room to cost $294 a night they should at least be able to bring you towels when you call. I get being understaffed but I still paid the same price as if they were fully staffed. I was hoping this would be a great weekend for my family considering that we spent a ton of money but it turned into a nightmare.

This is our second time coming to the lodge. It is close to home and a nice weekend get away. Although the rooms that are updated look nice, the beds are uncomfortable. The soap they provide is next to nothing and there is no creamer for the coffee.
Pros are the lodge has a lot of rooms to sit and enjoy a fire or relax that are cozy. The kids loved the indoor pools and games.
Restaurant is TERRIBLE food. Terrible terrible. Don’t eat here.
We will still return as the little town and scenery is beautiful but the lodge needs to up the little details for comfort to guest

Rented fam cabin specifically for using the indoor aquatic center (primarily adults only hot tub).
No life guards showed up so center was closed. Including hot tub.
They should have given us the option of getting our money back/cancel our reservation.
What else is there to do here midwinter That was our reason for coming.
The cabin was supposedly clean. But i found a shirt, a toy, and drawing and an almost dead roach in cabin.
Called to report patio doors do not lock. And no blow dryer in bathroom.
Upper level, hall light hangs off of wall.
Been before
Very dissatisfied this time.

We have been to Abe Martin Lodge many times over the last several years and loved it. However, we came and stayed Christmas night and was soooo disappointed. Our room cost almost 200.00 and it was in really bad condition. It looked like mold around the bathtub. We stayed in room 218. It hasn't been remodeled. We would never have booked that room if we had known. She told us we could upgrade for 30.00 before we had seen the room! It was very disappointing since we were doing it specially for Christmas. I feel like we should definitely get money back!!!

My wife and i did a little get away to Brown county Indiana. We stayed at the Abe Martin lodge in room 230 the bed was like sleeping on a 1 inch sheet of ply wood, my back still hurts and the quality of food was less than satisfactory we spoke with the front desk and they told us we weren't the first to complain about there sleeping and restaurant. Let me tell you it was miserable but they also said they were undergoing new management and that hopefully it would get better. Well it can't get any worse, we've had good experience at other state parks like Clifty falls in Madison Indiana. I don't think we will be going back to that park to stay ever again.

We planned a 2-night stay to enjoy the Aquatic Center with our two young kids. We stayed in a renovated room, which was very clean, but had a barely functioning TV, broken door to the bathroom, and extremely uncomfortable beds. All that would have been fine if the aquatic center was up to par - but the management of the aquatic center needs a serious overhaul.

The facility is clean, well-maintained, and was functioning pretty well (it wasn't WARM, but it was the coldest day of the year so far). However, the lifeguards were doing "safety checks" every hour (twice as often as advertised), which involved basically no safety elements. Instead, the lifeguards spent each 15-min check folding towels, chatting, and opening up the exterior doors to the freezing cold because they were too hot wearing sweats...while children and adults are inside freezing, waiting to be let back into the pool. This meant they ALSO ran out of towels multiple times the day we were there...because everyone needed towels to bundle up every 45 minutes! The lifeguards weren't checking any of the pools during this time - these checks seem like a convenient way for them to get people to leave the aquatic center.

The final straw for us was when we went to swim after dinner. After getting our 4-year old into her swimsuit, we walked down, only to find that all the lifeguards were in a training session (which was only advertised by a small sign at the front desk...which you don't walk by to get to the aquatic center). After breaking the news to our daughter, we packed up and left early. Upon checking out, the aquatic center was still closed, 30 mins after the training was supposed to have ended.

To be clear - our room was fine, the price was reasonable, and the staff OUTSIDE the aquatic center were all great. But management, PLEASE do something to improve your lifeguards attitude and clearly communicate if you're closing the pool. This is the #1 complaint in every review I have read, and I have to agree. It's a wonderful place to spend the day, but the inconsistency in applying rules and careless lifeguards make it hard to enjoy.

We won't be back unless we hear of improvements being made for the management of the aquatic center.

We are staying in one of the lodge's rustic cabins for 5 nights for a club convention my husband is attending. Having read some bad reviews, I was prepared for the worst but honestly it's not bad. Pretty comfortable actually and fit our needs well . Cabin has two beds, one twin one double, a small metal table with 4 chairs, a mini fridge , coffee maker, small bedside table with a cute deer themed lamp. There is a small closet and bathroom with shower, and a newer looking AC/heating unit. We are in unit 3 of a 4 unit cabin across from the lower end of the lodge's parking lot- it's named "Stew Nugent" after one of the comic strip characters. It's clean enough and didn't make me feel gross. The hardwood floor is a bit scratched up and could use a scrubbing but bathroom was ok, towels were nice; looks like efforts have been made to spruce it up some. That being said, a friend in a different cabin says ours is much better than his, so not sure if all the cabins have not been improved, or some more than others. Our window faces the woods and the other the cabin out back. There isn't much space to sit outside but there are some picnic tables around the side. Some cabins closer to the lodge look nicer from the outside but we did not see inside. Anyhow, we really are only here to sleep, spend most of day checking out other activities and doing some trails in the park which is lovely. Oh the water park is cute for kids and comes with your stay here. We did not eat at the restaurant . The lodge is cute inside especially upstairs which is the actually the front entrance originally of the lodge where there's a fireplace and sofas and outside a lovely deck overlooking an expensive green space. I give it 5 stars for our visit, especially since I had set my expectations low for the rustic cabins!

The room was a king and was really nice..
The background is brown county, state parks, and that, of course, is beautiful..
The refrigerator went on the fritz and couldn't get it replaced till the next day. The floors were dirty..
When the freezer thawed and melted, it ran onto the floor, I wiped it up with one of their towels, and it was filthy.
It was a multi night stay, and there was no maid service. If you needed something, you had to go to the front desk..
Water park gets a 3* as well..

$250.00/Night..
