I was there yesterday and they treated me very good. And the doctor was letting me know how was everything every other minute I feel so great full. Best ER in all Maryland for me the service is excellent. Since you enter until you go. And didn't let me wait for long time something I appreciate because I'm a high risk patient. 10/10

I’ve never been to this hospital and I’ve been in Maryland for 20 years. They have an abundance of security at this facility which makes sense due to the subpar service that is received. Not to mention the amount of substance abusers that are present at the facility. If you can avoid this hospital I would. I asked for a chucks pad and was handed it to put it down myself. When I advised the patient had to go to the restroom the nurse walked out and I was forced to assist. The call button was pressed and 20 min later they never responded. People need to be mindful that although your job is not the best for you, you should treat people how you want to be treated in similar situations.

My uncle went in 2 months ago to the 3rd floor. Although he was very ill he was showing improvement after leaving the Icu which is the 5th floor. They showed him compassion and thorough care. He improved again and went down to the 3rd floor again. He went down hill from there. The nurses are uncaring and very rude. He went to the bathroom on himself and it took them 2.5 hours to clean him even though he had bedsores from them not turning him. I will be contacting higher up. My uncle is now deceased because lack of care and reinfection to septic shock from bacteria on his catheter port which i asked him if they ever cleaned and he said no. I live 3 hours away and felt unsafe leaving him there on the 3rd floor. His nurses were spiteful and very ignorant. He asked for crackers they told him they had nothing for him. Numerous patients were coming back up to icu after being sent back to the 3rd floor. It needs to be looked into retrained or completely restarted. I will be contacting higher up and seeing legal options.

Entering with a cane was tough due to lack of instructions and empathy at the metal detector. Excessive back and forth walking without the cane was needed.

The waiting room was empty and I was accepted quickly.

I asked 2 nurses if my boyfriend could bring my medication and they both said no. Then one said they would send a prescription for it, and I said well my boyfriend is right next door. Finally they let him bring it. Bizzare. Felt like power play to be honest. (I later found out that its against policy to bring outside medication in? Why didn’t they tell me that?)

I repeatedly ask different people for water and it was delayed by an hour, adding to my discomfort.

I explained upon entry that I had a urinary frequency problem. However, getting assistance to use the restroom was so slow that I had to disconnect myself from the monitor.

*CW: needles*

The IV one of the nurses put in felt off. I tolerated it for an hour, but then I explained to another nurse that I’ve had many IVs before but this one feels very uncomfortable. That nurse asked me to try and keep it in because I might need another IV later. I told her it needs to come off because it feels terrible (and I figured if someone else did an IV it would feel better). She took off the liquids and LEFT. The IV was still in. I had my boyfriend go get her (knowing they wouldn’t respond quickly to the call button). She took it out after I begged. My arm bled so much… it still hurts over 1 day later. (edit, 2 days later, that arm is bruised. See the pic. I’m also having signs of an infection or something further up on my arm— hopefully it goes away)

That nurse had to put in another IV. She used my other arm. When she put in the IV, she noticed my vein swelled and said it would be painful to receive liquids and so was afraid to flush the IV out . Then she proceeded to move my arm about with the painful IV in and I said OWWWW. She chided me. (what?) Then she LEFT THAT 2ND IV IN and began to stick another one. Mind you, I HAVE EASY VEINS. I’ve never had problems with getting IVs. She stuck it in the meaty part of my arm and then found out that that was a “rolling vein” and lost it, then kept sticking the needle in and out, in and out, trying to find it. Exasperated, she bandaged it improperly and gave up, chiding me and blaming it on ME, because I had asked her to take out the first painful IV and my legs were trembling in fear, though I always calmed them down while they were sticking me and my arm didn't move at all ever. She got another nurse in, who was shocked at all the garbage strewn across my body from the IVs, cleared that up and immediately began to take out the 2nd painful IV which was still in and forgotten about? She did one poke, and did a normal-feeling IV. I was so relieved. (edit: 2 days later, the area around that 2nd painful IV has been itching)

All I had done was bloodwork, a urine sample, and a CT scan. I came in around 1am and left around 6:30am. 5.5 HOURS.

The prescriptions were given to me in paper form instead of ordered to my pharmacy as usual, which wasn’t explained to me.

The reasons I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1:

The doctor was very knowledgeable and I felt like medically he was doing a good of evaluation and a very good job of explaining everything to me and taking time to make sure all my questions were answered.

The person doing my CT scan verbally prepared me well for the scan and made sure I got in and out comfortably (due to my cane).

I am a pulmonary patient at this hospital. On 2016 I went to a hospital in Texas with a mass in my lung. I received treatment there as inpatient and outpatient. We decided to move out of Texas after the treatments, I went and requested copies of all my records including CT-scan MRI and surgery before I left Texas. I know I was going to need all these documents. On my last appointment here at the University of Meryland hospital, I carried all the copies from Texas with me. All those documents and everything from the X-ray department, the inpatient all documents after I also have to paid $179.00 to get those copies from Texas. ..and I told the Dr. I needed them back… Yesterday I received a call from the pulmonary clinic asking me for copies of everything I had given to the Dr. On her hands. The first thing I heard from the clerk was we don’t know what happened but Medical records said they destroyed your records and all CT- scan X-rays Everything MRI everything.. and I said and asked they make copies first I can get copies She replied back to me“No you CANNOT get copies of any records or X-RAY nothing you can not get nothing from this hospital that is not possible.!!” I was waiting today to hear from the department of
Patient ADVOCATES OFFICE and NO one has called me back with any information about my records or CDs. I really need an appointment with the Director or assistant director of this hospital. They really laughed at me for asking for the director……or an assistant……. Sincerely Sahadia Rivera, please anyone please let me know where I can pick up my records, and all 3 of my CDs please……

I had the best experience at this hospital. Went in for a colonoscopy and upon entering the hospital , I was lost and everyone that I asked made sure that I got to my destination. The employees were so cheerful when I walked past any employee they spoke to me and was very welcoming. Although I was afraid of having my colonoscopy procedure , everyone made me feel comfortable and important. The staff was very patient with me because they knew that I was afraid and took the time to answer all of my questions. When I finally got in the room, the entire staff made me feel safe and cared for. Upon coming out of the anesthesia , a nurse was sitting beside me on her computer , she offered me crackers and juice and remained by my side until I was discharged and we had a nice conversation. I was blown away by the exceptional customer service. I highly recommend this hospital and this is my first ever google review.
