My mother was taken to the emergency room by ambulance in severe pain, unable to walk safely. When I arrived, I was shocked to find her sitting in front of the registration window—without a wheelchair in sight. Given her condition and her difficulty communicating, I was deeply concerned for her well-being, as she cannot advocate for herself as effectively as others might.

The receptionist, who calls herself Santy, informed me that the hospital had only one wheelchair. My mother and I refused to move until she was provided with one, as she was clearly in need. Instead of assisting, Santy demanded that I move my mother away from the window, claiming we shouldn’t be overhearing patient information. I insisted that my mother needed a wheelchair and questioned what kind of medical facility operates this way. Santy outright refused, stating that my mother had been “walking fine” before I arrived—conveniently ignoring the fact that she had just been transported via ambulance in excruciating pain.

Santy then instructed me to push my mother away in the chair she was sitting in. I explained that if I were to fall or injure myself in the process, the hospital would be liable. She dismissed my concerns, herself and an approx. 50 year old somewhat bald male RN laughed in our faces, and openly violated both ADA compliance and EMTALA regulations. This behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

I am seriously considering starting a GoFundMe for an emergency room that doesn’t even have basic medical equipment like wheelchairs. Furthermore, if this hospital wants to improve from their one star rating by the state of California, staff must be properly vetted and trained in both medical ethics and customer service before being hired.

That said, I want to acknowledge the nurse and doctor who provided excellent care. The doctor, who was fortunately on rotation from Verdugo Hills ER, was professional and thorough, ensuring my mother received the treatment she needed.

However, the state of the facility itself is disgraceful. The walls are chipped, and there are holes in the emergency room walls where IVs and other critical medical equipment should be.

HIPAA compliance is nonexistent—you can hear every detail of what patients are going through. At one point, a man experiencing suicidal thoughts was turned away despite actively seeking treatment.

So much for Pacifica’s so-called H.E.A.R.T. mission. This experience was a complete disgrace.

This was the worst ER/ hospital I have ever had the displeasure of being taken to. Unfortunately, the ambulance service was the decision maker for my ending up at this looney facility. It felt like someone was actually playing a prank on me. I walked into people sleeping on the floor in the disgust of a waiting room, as well as someone in a scary Halloween mask talking to themselves. It took them a half hour to see me writhing in pain with a kidney stone and another 30-45 before I got anything for pain. They did a CT scan and 12 hours into my visit, neglected to tell me they couldn’t see the results because radiology was out of commission. They said they wanted to admit me and I laughed litterally out loud. That’s when I left AMA, to another hospital. Disgraceful. This place should be permanently closed.

Walked in ER, told them my exact problem. With only one other guy in the waiting room, they took 3 hours to see me, and after begging for any sort of pain killer, they proceed to not give a shit. If you care for your life, drive the extra few miles to literally any other hospital. Hell, I rather go to urgent care for my Emergency, than this place.

The worst bedside manners on earth very unprofessional & rude. You have been warned. The 2 ladies at the emergency window on 9-3-23 from 12 pm to 5:57 pm. They did NOT help at all shame on you 2 nurses.

I wish wish wish there could be a giant WARNING SIGN for this place. Let this review be one of them. The staff here is the most unsympathetic and unprofessional staff ever. There are a few really great nurses and doctors, but everyone else only cares about themselves and majorly neglects trauma patients. This place does not take serious threats of mentally ill patients until the patients themselves go through a process of a report. Even then, they neglected to take it seriously. I could go on for an essay-length about how messed up the system is here. Anyways, stay far far away if you need serious help. Or any help at all…

I was stayed a week with Covid and was there for another week for a different issue they helped me with. Extremely kind gentle staff. No problems. I felt like I was with angels when I had to get a colonoscopy and was scared. Lol. I will always be very grateful to this hospital. Thank you. GOD BLESS YOU.
