Wonderful experience- I was seen for what ended up being kidney stones. I got in right away to see a doctor, they managed my pain, gave me a CAT scan, and had me out the door on my way back home in less than 2 hours! Easiest trip to the ER - the doctor and nurse that I saw were wonderful.

Unfortunately the biggest waste of time I've had to go through. I'm in between Medicaid right now so the only place I can receive care are ERs or I would have 100% gone to an Urgent Care. So far all the ERs I've been to even before my Medicaid debacle were always very friendly, thorough in my care and provided the medication that I required. I've had chronic tachycardia since I was about 15, I'm 27 now and had a few scares in the past recently so I was hoping they would've been able to prescribe me a beta blocker that I'd been put on before just until my Medicaid transfers over. The doctor effectively just scoffed in my face and said "that's not what I do here" and "I'd have to be close to death". I would've completely understood this sentiment if they were packed and I could've just come back another time, but there were max 4 other patients there. Not only did he minimize/not even care to check on my medical history with my HBP and tachycardia, but he just straight up lied about my heart rate and BP telling me it was in the 90s, which it was in fact over 100 and the latter was 159/109. Those numbers are not normal for a 27 year old. A couple of excuses they gave me to refuse treatment were "we wouldn't be able to follow up on you" when the discharge sheet quite literally has a section for follow up appointments, and I've had follow up appointments before in previous ERs. Mind you I've BEEN prescribed the exact beta blocker in the past that I requested a small dose of and they said "well even if we wanted to we don't know how you would react". I would've asked them to look through my records but I could tell they felt obligated to more important matters and I was just wasting their precious time. Was also told another excuse by the doctor, Gregory Bowlin that specializes in cardiovascular health stated "he doesn't have any experience beta blockers". I had to hold back any further comments after that. He's either an incredibly awful liar or a horrible MD of cardiovascular health. Long story short, according to Gregory unless your guts are spilling out of your body or you've had a sword stabbed through your chest, your health concerns are effectively meaningless here. I wish I could give 0 stars but despite all of the blatant nonsense they fed me with a straight face, at least the receptionist was kind, and so was one of the nurses, who I had to remind to bring me the resources Gregory said he would provide me personally. Thankfully there are ERs in Overland Park that treat concerns that aren't immediate death, provide prescriptions, and have been wonderful visits. The terrible experience aside, it's very disheartening as a young individual to be told by many professionals, close friends, and family that a resting heart rate in the 120-130s is NOT normal, and neither is stage 2 hypertension meanwhile I go to a medical professional that shrugs them off as a scrape on the wrist and bill you for being in the honor of their presence. Thankfully I know better and will be getting the care I need. Mind you this is not a big or major hospital, and I obviously would never minimize life threatening issues so the entire experience of "I have more important things to be doing right now" in a building where you could hear a pin drop was bizarre to say the least. I think this is the only negative review I've ever posted in my life, the silver lining to this is it gave me the motivation to not let one dismissive experience prevent me from seeking treatment. To Gregory and the nurse staff that helped me, my apologies for seeking preventative care and not having a literal myocardial infarction in your office. Will make sure to recommend people here if they ar—oh, nevermind they're probably dead.

Edit: I went to Menorah and they were absolutely phenomenal. They listened to all my concerns, researched my medical history, and agreed beta blockers were the obvious choice for the longevity of my health. Thank you to Menorah Medical! If you know something is wrong, don't give up. There are doctors waiting to give you the care you deserve.

I’ve been to this ER twice now. Service is fast, wait time is short, Doctors are great, nurses could definitely use training on bed side manners. Don’t go here if you’re looking for someone to take the time to understand what’s going on.

I came to the ER yesterday afternoon. From the very start the nurse wasn’t nice either in caring . She seemed like she was annoyed and didn’t want to be there. As she was taking the caps off of the syringes and getting ready to give me pain medicine, nausea medicine started an IV first, she was throwing the plastic caps on the counter around. When I asked her what my blood pressure was. She said oh I don’t remember, even though she did offer to take it again. It’s like everything put her out from the get-go. The doctor also was not very kind in the beginning, but he seemed to have warmed up some I was there for abdominal pain and worried and scared the RN that came on duty, was so friendly and kind and nice. Answered all of my questions his name was Mark. What a lovely person to take care of someone and so kind and compassionate at least I could say for the first two that were on shift when I was there the very first time I came to Advent ER whoever I had then were so nice and so I felt good about going there again but honestly I felt was was not treated with respect. It made me so sad to see this .

Alyssa in the ER was the incredibly rude and hung up on me when trying to get information about the waiting room situation there. This after two other hospitals were kind enough to explain that they had patient loads of 15 to 20+ waiting in their ERs because of the viral infections going around. At least I know what to expect going to the other ERs—might be a long wait but at least they were civil toward patients.

I experienced an unusually smooth and caring experience at Advent Health ER. I actually admitted directly to Advent Health Urgent Care due to a fall. I was taken care of immediately and the staff was exceptionally caring. Therefore when the doctor asked if I had any additional questions I told him that I also had severe chest pain’s earlier. I hesitated to bring it up since the pain was gone and I did not feel it was an emergency at that point. But he immediately put me at ease and explained that he did not want to send me home having just experienced such chest pain. I was transferred from urgent Care to Emergency Care to receive additional tests before I left the premises. The Doctor on staff and nurses were all encouraging and supportive. I left feeding I had received a thorough check up including the results! Thank you to the doctors, nurses, technicians and registration staff!

We had a phenomenal experience here last night after waiting for over 2 hours in a packed waiting room at KU Hospital. The nurse and ER physician at Advent College Boulevard were both very professional, prompt, and kind, and there was no wait whatsoever! We were in and out in less than an hour! Truly phenomenal care!
