My Girlfriend is PREGNANT and we arrived at the Emergency room at 12:30 noon because we had a emergency with her having contractions with the baby and we had to wait for over 2 hours just to be seen !!!! Now why would someone pregnant clearly in pain need to sit and wait in a lobby for 2 hours while other patients walk in wait 20 minutes and BOOM THEIR IN . This is not acceptable on any level! This shows how much HUMANITY this hospital have for patients and there unborn kids ! Disappointed and frustrated! Currently its 3:00 pm and my girlfriend is syill in excruciating pain! so Yeah this has to change ! ……

I appreciate the staff at Altru so much! Everyone was incredibly kind and thoughtful

After seeing all the negative reviews and having a great experience today, I wanted to share my experience, or rather my wife's. We came in 4 days after my wife delivered a baby in another town. My wife was still having terrible headaches. The ER team worked together very well to coordinate care and find a spot for my wife to nurse our new son while we waited. The wait time was not bad at all. The anesthesiologist came in on her day off(on call?) and carried out the necessary procedure promptly. The rest of the team kept us comfortable and accommodated needs while we were here. Great job!

I’m visiting from out of the area and ended up with some sawdust in my eye while working on my late father-in-law’s house, so had to make a trip to the ER.
They were very quick, efficient, and friendly.
Zero waiting initially and I was in an exam room within 10 minutes after providing basic information and taking my vitals. Doc checked it out, gave me some antibiotics for a scratch on my cornea and I was out in under an hour total, even on a holiday.
Hope I never need to go back, but I wouldn’t hesitate if necessary.

I had called the altru nurse line in regards to my kidney stones and the pain I was experiencing and she recommended that I go to the emergency with the symptoms I was feeling. I went in and was helped right away, which was great, being that there was one person in the waiting room. But the care afterwards was lack luster. The doctor and some of the staff we saw made me feel like a nuisance. I did not feel cared for and some comments made were off hand and not necessary. They gave me medication, but put the pick up location an hour away (Park River and the location closes early on Saturday’s) even though I live in Grand Forks. I can’t get my medication until maybe tomorrow, more than likely Monday. I know I should have looked sooner at the location, but there was no confirmation of address by any of the staff so this could have been avoided and I was tired from lack of sleep. I had called once I saw this, and the person who answered was rude, and no one was able to help/ we were told no one would sign off on it to have the medication cancelled and resubmitted to Grand Forks Thrifty White until the doctor that I had came back in. I would have rather taken the hour and a half drive in pain to Fargo Sanford then deal with the nightmare that was Altru.

I brought my daughter in last night and it was an absolute zoo. We were there for six hours! While we waited, I went into hypoglycemic shock. I asked the nurse for orange juice. They never brought me some. To make matters worse, we were stranded there. Apparently, they don't give out taxi vouchers anymore. I had asked the person behind the registration desk for help. They told me to call someone! Well, if I knew anyone in town, we wouldn't have been stranded! Don't waste your time with this ER. You're better off going to Crookston or Fargo.

Terrible care I told them I was very sick and all they did was take X-rays and a Covid test. I sat there for 5 hours. When I was brought in I could barely walk and I couldn’t catch my breathe. The doctor told me he would have some meds delivered to help my body aches and fever and 2.5 hours later I still had nothing brought to me or anyone that even talked to me. Coming from small town hospitals that surround my tiny town and are all great physicians I am very disappointed with my care tonight. Not to say the time it took to do anything in that place!!!! 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Brought my 2 yr old in and staff went above and beyond with her. Really happy they were so patient with her and actually seemed to care about her overall health.
