I had a crazy hand injury late on a Monday & ran into Austin Emergency center & they were GREAT!! It’s a big, modern facility and staffed with friendly & smart nurses & super great Docs. I had to have a bunch of stitches in my finger & Dr. Boem took her time & talked me through every step of the way. I sure HOPE I don’t have to come back to the ER, but if I do, this is where I’m coming. You guys ROCK!!

The doctor and nurses were so kind and professional while caring for me. The doctor and I discussed things at length and he took his time asking a lot of questions and listening to my concerns. He is amazing. The front receptionist was also kind and caring. I checked in online and they called me back as soon as I arrived. They let me rest and made sure I was ok before I left. The nurses were kind and professional. I had been misdiagnosed by urgent cares and other doctors for weeks and was very sick when I finally went to the emergency room. He got it right! I would definitely recommend this emergency room to anyone needing emergency services. Thank you to the staff, especially the doctor for the care, kindness and compassion you showed me.

Doctor Ely was incredible. I came in with tummy issues and she speedily put me through imaging and testing. Highly recommend visiting this ER — and request Dr Ely! She even tucked me in with a warm blanket when I was cold. 🙂 Nurse Drew & Radiology tech Nancy are awesome, too!

I will never visit another emergency room if I can help it, because AEC: South Lamar has the BEST staff of any ER I've visited in my 13+ years in Austin. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and capable. The facility is clean and comfortable. Staff consistently explain policies and happily offer clarification. The doctors and nurses actually practice compassion and will take as long as you need to help you understand your condition. Thank you for creating such a valuable resource and putting patients first!

I visited the emergency department with concerning symptoms including dizziness, facial tightness, and shortness of breath - symptoms that warranted serious medical attention. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and concerning.

The attending physician displayed an unprofessional and dismissive attitude throughout the visit. When discussing potential tests beyond an EKG, rather than explaining her medical reasoning, she responded condescendingly by asking what tests I thought/want should be done - an inappropriate response from a medical professional to a patient seeking emergency care.

The doctor insinuated that I was only there to obtain a work excuse, despite me never requesting one or mentioning anything about work. This baseless assumption, combined with her dismissive attitude, made me feel like she wasn't taking my genuine medical concerns seriously.

Instead of conducting a thorough evaluation of my symptoms, which could have indicated various serious conditions, the doctor seemed to have made assumptions based on my appearance. Her only advice upon discharge was to lose weight and to not work today, without addressing the acute symptoms that brought me to the emergency room.

This type of dismissive treatment can discourage patients from seeking necessary medical care in the future. Every patient deserves to be treated with respect and to have their concerns taken seriously, regardless of their appearance or physical condition.

I'm sharing this experience in hopes that the hospital will address this concerning behavior and provide better training on patient communication and comprehensive emergency care.

I was evaluated by Franchell Richard-Hamilton

Literally the best care I've ever received, I had Dr. Adams and my nurse was Mr.Kendrick. they were so kind, they answered all of my questions, Mr. Kendrick made sure I was comfortable and brought me warm blankets and snacks, and explained everything in a very kind and understanding manner. He also gave me my shots (he's an absolute pro!) They also let me relax and didn't rush any aspect of my care. Cannot recommend this location enough 🙂

We came in today very concerned after some bleeding during week 7 of our pregnancy. I don’t like needles and generally don’t like being at the doctor. That being said, the team did such a great job and really put us at ease. The IV was done super quickly and they were sensitive to my fear. The tests were all done so compassionately. They continuously updated us on what was going on and why, with an high degree of professionalism and personalized care. We left feeling so grateful for the care we received and will be back for any urgent care needs in the future. Thank you team!
