I went in for chest pain. They got me in within a couple minutes of me filling out my information. Everyone from the receptionist to the triage nurses to the doctor were efficient and professional. They did an x-ray on my heart, took blood and ran tests all in a very short time. I was very impressed. They made me comfortable in a serious situation. I would recommend Bethesda west to anyone with an emergency.

I arrived at the ER with my six yr old son who was very ill. His temp had become 105.0 and he had developed a horrible cough that was persistent. The triage nurse took him in to get his vitals and told me 105 was not that bad that I should only become concerned if the fever gets around 106.5 to 107 that’s when he could possibly start having seizures smh. We sat in the waiting area for a very long time until someone came to get him for an X-ray. After the x-ray we were took back to the waiting area until a room could become available. After quite some time had passed they got him into a room and the nurse took a swab of his nose and throat. A few hours later the dr stepped in and said his tests showed he was positive for RSV, influenza A and adenovirus. After telling me all this he said the nurse will be in with some medicine. The nurse came in with discharge papers and a dose of Motrin. We were sent home with a prescription for Tamiflu to have filled the following day. I asked if he could possibly get something for the persistent cough and was told no by the nurse she stated that she over heard the dr and other nurse talking and he wouldn’t be getting anything else to just put him in the bathroom with a shower running to create steam. My child was treated as if his condition was unimportant and was dismissed without care. He was discharged and had only been treated with a dose of Motrin that I had already been giving at home. That high of a fever is dangerous and should be treated as such!! I’m sure that not all the parts of this hospital are bad and not all the staff but what I can say is the ER staff definitely could use a reminder on how to treat patients especially children and to not leave a child to sit there for hours with a temperature that is that high coughing consistently without any care. Please do better. I would recommend going anywhere else.

I came in at 3 am 12/19. Luckily there was no one ahead of me, and I was taken in quickly. EVERYONE involved in my care was skillful, kind, and attentive. Dr Serge was thorough and explained options for treatment. The nurses who put in my IV were gentle and interested in my comfort. Alberto, who took me for my CT and Eric, the radiology technician were equally caring and proficient. In the morning, my nurse Tracey and Dr Taylor gave me options for continuing care in hospital or being discharged with meds. I was always made to feel as a participant in my treatment, and could not have been shown more kindness! My rating: A+!

The medical care provided was exceptional. I was promptly admitted, minimizing the waiting time. Upon entering the facility, I was greeted by a friendly and courteous staff member, who assisted me in navigating the process and connecting with the nurses and doctors. The medical team efficiently performed the necessary procedures, and the recovery process was remarkably swift. I was discharged sooner than anticipated.

today or yesterday was the second time I’ve been to this hospital and I have nothing but praise. Every single employee here is kind, respectful, knowledgeable, and very patient. Horrible experience!! I threw my back out and went in for a simple X-ray of my lumbar and sacrum. The Physician's Assistant was very young and not experienced. She was extremely slow, and there were hardly any patients in the ER. Almost 5 hours. I witnessed a male nurse dancing at the nurses station, and also witnessed another nurse walking around going from room-to-room with the SAME PAIR of gloves on!! Yes, it was a nurse, not housekeeping, because she discharged me. Lastly, several nurses would walk by my room and look at me, making eye contact, but would not ask if I needed anything.

No one ever wants to enter an Emergency Department, but if you need to, Bethesda Hospital West is the ED to go to. Everyone from the admission desk, the nurses, and the physician were excellent. The nurses were very caring, professional. I was most impressed with Dr. Roberts. He actually sat down and listened, explained procedures and treatments. He and the nurses continued to check on me while awaiting X-ray and blood test results. Thankful for the excellent care I received.
