I had a lumpectomy performed this past week. All the medical personnel were helpful and friendly. From the time I checked in till the time I left. The only reason I gave a 4 star rating was that they sent me home without written instructions. I was under anesthesia and don’t really remember what they verbally told me. It would have been nice to have it written down. I’ll be calling and asking. Otherwise it was a good experience at the outpatient surgery center.

Everyone was very nice, courteous and friendly. My nurse Hope was just wonderful. I have lung problems and when I came in from valet parking, the check in rep noticed I was a little breathless and asked if I needed a transport chair. I told her I thought I’d be OK, but she said it was a long walk to the outpatient section so she wheeled me down there which was very nice.

Everything was excellent from beginning to end. The nurses, the assistants, the anesthesiologist,
were informative and wonderful, and all the pre-op, op and post-op plans, information and procedures were done with professionalism, kindness and dignity. A special thanks to my doctor, Kerry McDonald, who even visited me to answer questions prior to surgery. Praise and endless thanks to everyone involved in my first, and hopefully last surgery!

The nurses and medical staff are great.
Very nice and helpful in care, treatment and explaining the procedure.
The parking and walk to the waiting room and treatment areas are horrendous.
That's why only 4 stars.
It seems the higher-ups in the ivory tower don't care about the little people.

The same for Lynn Cancer Institute.
The valets at Lynn are rude and act like you owe them.
They change seat and mirror positions even after you ask them not too.
Twice they couldn't find my truck.
Plus most of them speak very little English.

A surprisingly pleasant experience before and after a surgical procedure. The pre-op staff was very attentive and specifically the night nurse Cheryl was great. She couldn’t have been any nicer or more informative and attentive. I felt very well cared for. Thank you.

I was very pleased with all the nurses at the hospital. They were very kind and responsive to me. The pre op nurse, the post op nurses, the floor nurses were all very good. The residents/doctors were both very nice and helpful. The pt was also very good. Dr Shapiro is wonderful.

Seemed to be rather poor communication throughout the hospital. They never were able to get my medication straight. On the day I was to be discharged, I asked the nurse when I would see the doctor. She told me that the doctor didn’t know that I was there. I’d still be there if I hadn’t asked the nurse to petition the doctor to see me. They seem to need to establish better communications throughout. My procedure seemed to be OK, but some of these other smaller things in my stay were questionable.

Absolutely horrible experience with some serious quality of care concerns. After first going to their freestanding ER at West Boca Med Center, my mom was transferred (after at least 4 hours) to the ER at Boca Regional and it was determined she needed emergency appendectomy due to a perforated appendix. She remained in the ER for 12 hours while several residents examined her and determined she needed surgery ASAP. The care in the ER was abhorrent, and probably the worse I have witnessed in all my years in the medical profession. Her assigned nurse informed us that she does not check on patient's when they have family members present, and operates under the assumption that the family will reach out as needed. There was an assistant/tech who I called via the help button with concerns about my mom's external catheter/Pure Wick that was given to her at the free-standing ER, and he had the audacity to tell me that I needed to call the facility from where my mom was transferred if I had questions about that device; he then hung up on me when I attempted to ask further questions. At that point, we had to find her RN who was nowhere in sight. The ER consisted of horrible patient care, lack of engagement with my mom, dirty ER floor with empty Jello-cups, napkins, garbage, etc. Staff had little to no customer service skills, and there was even a doctor sitting at the desk dropping the f-bomb as he was speaking with aforementioned assistant. Finally after 12 hours, she was moved from the ER to a private room in the morning, and finally went in for surgery at noon. Her condition at that time had markedly deteriorated and was very poor, and in addition to the removal of her appendix, she required aggressive irrigation of her abdomen. On a positive note, the care she received from her nurses & clinical assistants, and surgeon, was excellent and I can't say enough good things about the care they provided to my mom.
