This ER is absolutely Terrible! I took my mom here and I talked to the girl at check in and she was completely rude. My mom waited 6 hours and finally wanted to leave. They did labs and left her in the waiting area, I’m sure they scam insurance places for more money for doing nothing! People that were there before her, said they been waiting over 6 hours and a lot of people were walking out. Absolutely the worst! Don’t recommend going! When asking the receptionist wait time, she gave an attitude. She would let others know a time frame then tell others she don’t know. My mom said she was getting sick( going to throw up) and she used her hand and waved it around to the waiting area to show her that the whole area is sick, that is why they are there.

Every time we come to the emergency room we are met with Incredible care and patience! Some of the doctors and nurses here are absolutely amazing and gorgeous..... we have gotten some of the absolute best care in this emergency room in spite of what other people may say! It's an emergency room so often your wait is long but if you can figure out the doctors comings and goings you can get there at the right time and in and out quicker than you would expect. And another hot doctor just walked by. Just another benefit to this Hospital.

Daughter had to have sutures on lip Dr Manning did a wonderful job of taking care of her. The ER nurses were so good with her too. We waited 6 days abd took her back to ER to have sutures removed and two nurses did so good with her! I really appreciate how well they treated her.

Never again will I deal with Cox, when I went in with severe abdominal pain not only was I misdiagnosed but was given the run around. I went in with abdominal pain and was called back in a reasonable time where I saw a Provider and without any test she diagnosed me with appendicitis. It wasn't until I finally got a scan and had another argument with this provider that she called for a surgeon for a second opinion who agreed with me. After which they hospitalized me. Now to the hospital room. Completely dirty trash looked like it wasn't taken out in days floor was filthy my roommates wife found a used IV catheter on the floor next to where her child was playing. The room was cleaned after she went and chewed out the nurses station. I was then discharged with the same BS appendicitis diagnoses with an appointment for surgery in 3 weeks. 3 weeks later the morning of the surgery I was contacted by the surgeons staff who told me that he refused to touch me until I see a gastro specialist. So I set that up they do scans on me and say there's too much inflammation to see what's going on, and to add insult they don't call to tell me this they send a letter in the mail. Shortly after this I had another flare up and went to Mercy. What Cox couldn't figure out in 3 months Mercy figured out in less than 48 hours.

I think cox South is great. I ended up in the ER where the wait was very long and it took over 24 hours to be seen by a Dr. On the floor, that's why I did take off one star. But after that the facility was great in diagnosing and treating my sepsis. The staff was overall very nice. There was one nurse that seemed to be in a mood but I only had her for a couple hours, so it wasn't so bad.

My brother in law went in for suspected kidney stones with the worst pain. They proceeded to tell him that he was just there to get “high” off the medication and that he needed to be quiet bc he was being too loud and making people uncomfortable. HE WAS IN PAIN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD AND NOBODY WAS DOING ANYTHING TO HELP HIM!!! They eventually gave him some medicine after doing a scan AND SAW THE STONES but this is beyond unprofessional and rude. I’m sure you get a lot of people who are wanting meds to get high plus you were very busy and overwhelmed with the amount of patients I’m sure, but regardless this is not a way to treat a human being. Please do better so nobody else will get treated like this. Thank you and have the day you deserve.

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the staff on the 8th floor. They were kind, patient, THEY LISTENED, and seem to actually care.

HOWEVER. The ER staff Friday late night and Saturday evening were extremely negligent.

My spouse came in for severe abdominal pain and vomiting. After 11 hours, they insisted he had a condition that there isn't even a test for and completely neglected the fact that his gallbladder needed to be removed. They discharged him and said to come back if he gets worse. He did, and we came back. The ER staff were incredibly rude and condescending. After 6 hours of him sitting in the lobby with severe abdominal pain, we left and went to Cox North, where they listened. Did the scan. Spoke with the surgery team, and now we're back at Cox South upstairs waiting for his gallbladder to be removed. Thanks for having the WORST ER staff and running his hospital bill up for no reason.

Dont go here if you have a real emergency.

Got here at 9:30 AM to try to beat the rush. Front desk was not personable at all. It’s currently 2PM and still waiting with a blood iv in my arm. We were taken back for blood and vital checks before being sent back out to wait, and there were 2-3 nurses just sitting in the bloodwork room gossiping in front of patients.

An elderly couple who arrived an hour before us asked about the wait time. The nurse immediately got snippy with him and told him “nobody has been out here more that 2 1/2 hours and you should be grateful for that”, despite them being there since 8:30. I was appalled. The worst part is that you can’t even leave because they leave you with an IV needle in your arm until they are “ready”.
