Please read before you make the same mistake I did!
I would highly recommend NOT going to this hospital if you have an emergency. I brought my very ill husband there and they sent him home only for us to return an hour or so later because he had a 107 temperature! I ran into the ER to get help and the front desk lady looked at me like I was crazy. I had to get the wheelchair myself and pull my husband out of the car because he couldn’t walk and was passing out. I had to load him in the wheelchair alone before anyone even came out the door and when someone did there was no urgency at all even though I was yelling he had an extremely high fever and we need help now. He could have died!
After that awful experience the Med surg floor was even worse. He had been there for 4 days before I had ever even seen a physical DR. On the floor!!! When I finally saw her she tried to tell me she had been in my husbands room multiple times the day before which I told her was impossible because I had been there for 12.5 hours and never even saw her in the hallway! She could not explain that. Yesterday while I was up there she came in once for rounds in the morning. I had to ask her to come back and talk to me. The next time I requested to talk with her about transferring him out of there she never came back. I am extremely disappointed with the care my husband is receiving there. I asked to transfer him to another hospital because the competency here is ridiculous. They are ultimately making this extremely difficult to do and told us no one would take him! Did they actually do the work to find a hospital? I will never know the honest answer to that. The charge nurse told me my husband is “not that bad” while others were telling me how serious and complex his case is. A DR at on point told my husband they had never even heard of his illness so they tested him 3x but a simple google search pulled it up immediately.

They have NO specialty drs at this hospital and the overnight DR they have on staff is Computer they wheel into your room. This guy is the computer DR for multiple hospitals. How can one computer DR take care of this many patients?! The answer is he can’t with quality. The infectious disease DR is a computer they roll into your room. These computers are glitchy and they cannot see the whole picture of the patient this way! Half the time they couldn’t even hear my husband so I’d have to speak for him. How is this fair to him?! I am still paying the same price as if they were physically in the room but the quality of care is completely diminished! This is ridiculous! My husband is essentially stuck there with incompetent care because they will not help me get him out of there. I cannot remove him myself as he cannot be without oxygen. Insanity. I am paying for this- I should have the right to seek and receive quality care with DRs and staff I trust!

This place has us feeling like they are just flying by the seat of their pants with my husband’s LIFE, I am not ok with this. You shouldn’t be either.

Moral of the story is: unless you want to be treated by an incompetent robot I suggest going to a hospital with real DRs.
The quality of care here is insanely mismanaged.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!

I could have lost mine due to their lack of knowledge and poor care.

Do better Fairview! Your patients and families deserve better!!!!

Edit: we are now 5 days out from
This horrible experience only to be back in and admitted to another hospital! I would like to ask the charge nurse who said my husband was “not that bad” - if he was just fine then why did we have to rush BACK to the ER again?! They sent him home on the wrong antibiotics that sent his recovery backwards.
Another note: Princeton hospital failed to mention to us that my husband was SEPTIC during his stay with them, that’s right they never told us. But it was in his chart. We didn’t find out until we were admitted to this new hospital. I think that’s important information that we should have had, don’t you?

Absolutely the best ER experience I've ever had. I got it in super quick. Staff was very friendly, patient, and informative. Got the resources and referrals I needed. Plus, the Pharmacy is right there or you can use their medication machine for select prescriptions. I was skeptical coming here at first, due to negative reviews, but I didn't have much of a choice. Glad I came here though!

This was my first time at this hospital but I was blown away by the care and bedside manner of the medical team. Dr. VanErb was so kind, and reassuring, knowledgeable, thorough and such a great doctor. Our nurses were sweet and attentive! I highly recommend. There was No wait.
I did notice the cleanliness of bathroom and building was not up to my liking but besides that it was great service!

I would give negative stars if I could. I brought my husband into the "Emergency Room". He was having EXTREME abdominal and back pain. His breathing was labored. He was made to wait in the waiting room for 1 1/2 hours. He was not allowed to have any water, the pain continued to get worse with his breathing continuing to get more labored. Stilll we sat in the waiting room despite telling triage that his breathing was getting worse. He can barely move or breathe and they keep wanting him to answer questions, getting annoyed with me when I try to answer their questions on his behalf. I will NEVER come back here. We did not feel heard at all!!

First time here I brought my newborn son here and we saw Dr. Koivisto was amazing. So reassuring and answered all of my questions. 2nd time I came for postpartum preeclampsia. I saw Dr. Waletzko in the ER who was super nice! I was admitted and had amazing nurses. I remember ones name specifically, Kayla. She was amazing.

I remember the hospital called a few times to check on me and I never answered the calls. I feel bad but was busy with being a new mom and having struggles. I just wanted to leave this review & let you know you all are amazing!

Wow is all I can say. Moved to the area a year ago. I’ve never been here until 1/3/2023. I came into the emergency room with severe stomach pain and I was in so fast and the doctors and nurses were unbelievable. They worked hard and fast to figure out my mystery pain. By early evening I was going into surgery and out late that night and they all did a tremendous job taking care of me and making sure I was comfortable and they solved the mystery with an exploratory laparotomy! I am so so great full for the team at Fairview Northland Medical Center Emergency Room! Thank you!

I highly recommend not going here. First I went to urgent care in Elk river ( don’t go there either ) and they told me I needed to go to the ER. Ended up going there only to wait three hours and was told “ there’s nothing wrong with you “ and was told if said pain was still going on to come back. I ended up waiting a month to go back (soonest they could get me in) only to have the doctor tell me she didn’t know what was wrong and wanted to do tests unrelated to what was wrong.

Overall, unless you are literally dying I would highly recommend not going here. I wouldn’t go there if I had a knife sticking in my neck and it was the only hospital around.
