Most staff wasn't very friendly. I wasn't looking for sympathy at all, but they weren't sympathetic at all...not knowing a person's history or problems, I feel like I was treated like a number and not a human being. Some staff admitted to me they wouldn't come here for emergency services.

Discharging a patient at the er window is extremely unprofessional and unethical. It called a emergency checkin and also people have some shame. If you see a long as line of a patient is immediate assistance. One of the worst experiences. Was waiting for 30 min freaking checkin. Staff needs to taught and this hospital gonna get a lawsuit soon at this point for lack of patient care. The hospital needs to look at these reviews and respond with proper procedures. 1.8 rating should mean something for the only ER in Merced.

It’s ridiculous the wait time. Instead of seeing patients who need to be seen and could be sent home after a few minutes of being seen they make that patient wait a whole dam day to be seen for 5 minutes. RIDICULOUS!!!! I don’t want to speak to another nurse I just want the Dr to hurry up, do his rounds so people aren’t waiting hours and hours wasting their day away sitting in a germ infested waiting room.

Absolutely horrible experience, went in for a sprained ankle, was never ONCE seen by a doctor. Before even being checked for the one thing I actually came there for, they made me do a pointless blood pressure test and then took me to someone who began asking me questions on whether I had ever tried to commit suicide and a plethora of other pointless questions. To my surprise, this was all done so they could charge me THOUSANDS of dollars in costs for these “extra services” that I had never asked for. After that I was given three x-rays of my ankle, told to wait and was then forgotten for nearly two full hours until a nurse came by and asked what I was waiting there for. I told her and then a doctor came back with a SEVEN THOUSAND dollar bill and a piece of paper telling me how to “care for a sprained ankle”, and was sent off. TLDR: I was charged $7,000 for 3 x-rays of my ankle and that was WITH insurance.

3 stars for the Night Shift doctors and Staff ONLY.

1 star rating for day shift Admissions and Triage nurses. The RN’s in Triage are so rude!!! If you are not having a heart attack, stroke, or homicide you are not considered an “emergency”. I’m here to say there are other illnesses in this world that constitute an emergency room visit. Illnesses you cannot see, illnesses that Merced maybe hasn’t heard of. It’s a shame. There’s one nurse in particular that thinks she’s tough and touches you to sit down when I asked if I can have a seat in the hallway because my neck needed wall support. She came outside put her hands on me and said “sit down, no, sit down you will not be going back there” she also took off my neck brace and threw it in the trash because I didn’t “need” it since I wasn’t there for a car accident, neck injury, etc
(Nurse Mercedes had given it to me for stability because I have neck issues that heighten during these flare ups). The RN was annoyed she gave it to me.

Night shift I was met with so much compassion from the RN to the Doctor, Dr Bowes (sp?). To my surprise they took me back and kept me back there to treat me. He was such a blessing and listened to everything I had going on. I wish I got to RN’s name but she was so helpful and treated all her patients the same. Dr treated me the best he could until I was able to make it to SF.

Morning Staff—I know you have tough patients but you should treat everyone as a decent human and not diagnose their condition rudely as anxiety when there’s so much more than anxiety. Learn about it and be humble!

Front clerk: get an attitude check..you check people in there should be no reason for eye told, grunts, tones. I am a nice person, that had an emergency.

11 hours to be seen?! I went in for abdominal pain, and waited in the ER lobby for 11 hours. When I asked what was taking so long, I was told it was because I needed a “higher level of care”. Wouldn’t that make me be seen faster?
I was desperate for help so I stayed, otherwise I would have gone to find care somewhere else.
If you must go here, bring food, water, a phone charger, and blankets!

Came in to get help with my mental health and was immediately checked in, no waiting. My first nurse was a guy named Braulio and he was the sweetest, I appreciate him very much. Although I wasn’t able to be helped properly due to the fact I don’t currently have insurance, this place was clean and nice. Thank you Braulio
