Wow what a great experience with the ER! My Apple Watch warned me I was AFib. Went to the ER, they confirmed, treated me and released me within 4 hours. The staff and Doctors were all excellent and knowledgeable. I live in Houston, with one of the largest and world class medical centers in the US…so I was expecting less than world class. I was greatly surprised on the awesome service I received.

Not sure whether to be angry, offended or both. Upon check-in, I was asked why I was there, and when I began to tell them, I was told, "full out this firm sir, and have a seat."
The form only offered two genders, m/F, but neither apply, which is shown on my Government-issued ID. After writing in my gender, and providing my ID, the intake nurse 'corrected' the form and chose an incorrect fender for me.
Throughout the visit I was misgendered and addressed with incorrect terms and pronouns.
(*gender, not biological sex)
Upon viewing my visit summary, it not only repeated the offensive and deliberate 'correction,' but misquoted me as well.
I visited due to a viral respiratory issue, and shared concern about COVID, as a positive diagnosis would impact those around me. I also stated having chest pain, and difficulty breathing.
The summary, however, stated I experienced nether of these. The PA who "treated" me seemed put-off by his need to speak with me, so I'm not surprised by this. But when I explained that, I had been feeling ill for at least 3 days, and "I haven't been able to sleep the past two nights, as it felt as though someone was sitting on my chest, and I had a fever each night..." you'd think that would be information of note.

I was actually seen by 4 individuals (3 nurses, and the PA), and told them all the same info...
Each attempted to downplay my concerns, and instead asked for the 'degrees' of my fever, as if I was making it up. In fact, I actually use a digital thermometer, that logs the temperatures. Apparently, though I expressed very direct concern about a respiratory infection (as I've had one before), and sought reassurance regarding COVID (as I've also had that before, 2 times), they only managed to hear "face hurts."
(One of the nurses did actually take me seriously about wanting a COVID test, and gave me helpful info at discharge).

I might go back again if I'm on fire, and need to get 'put out.' But I would not recommend this ER for anyone alive and awake in 2024.

They charged me $1000 PER STITCH. I asked multiple people, multiple times how much my care would cost no one could even give me a rough estimate of cost. I wanted to know because I have a high deductible insurance plan. The only care I received was 5 stitches and a tetanus shot I was in the ER room for less than an hour. They charged me $5020. I really wish I could have gone to an Urgent care but it was too late. I very much regret going here.

The are is adequate but the care for your valuables is not. When I checked into the queen via ambulance my belongings were taken to the queen. Long story short I was transferred to another hospital for weeks. I. Called the queen about my rosary in specific and they told me they get rid of property after 2 weeks (security guards words). I would like a replacement at the very least. I'm upset because they care little about a person property. I had nobody to pick up my items and I was in other hospitals which was completely beyond my control

I had to visit their ER for a severe allergy attack. I was overwhelmed with how nice everyone I interacted was. My nurses were prompt, caring, knowledgeable, and so sympathetic. She exhibited this to a lady next door to me as well that was going through a lot more than I was. This was my first ER visit since I was a kid and I was scared of all the horror stories you hear about the ER, but the only thing I experienced today was quality care and empathy.

Emergency room are
*NOT KID FRIENDLY*
The nurses barge in very aggressive and not in a (helpful proactive way) more of a (we come in as 2 so we can hold you down) they are not kind at all!
This place views you as an Annoyance rather then a human being.
The Doctors in the ER here will try to shoo you away asap a tell you you’re fine .
My advice would be to go somewhere else or you will be waiting in the lobby for 3+ hour even if you’re having breathing issues .
And if this place is your last resort ADVOCATE for yourself or whoever you brought every strongly for them to do X-rays and blood test .
Don’t let them bully you away from your EMERGENCY just to make their job easier .
