My wife and myself have come here quite a few times over the years, and I have without exception that I recall been treated with kindness and professionalism by each and every one of the staff. Of course you have to wait, as with any ER, but the check in process is such that they try to get to you as soon as possible, especially if something serious is going on. They also keep you updated with what's happening with texts and a personalized web experience. I really don't know how they could do better!

I just discovered where I can find the physician notes for each visit in my medical record and it’s crazy how off some of the information is. It will say things like symptoms have persisted for 3 days when really it had been 10 (and this symptom for 10 days straight can be dangerous) I understand these doctors are busy and stressed but out of my three visits, only one had appeared to really listen based off the physician notes I read. I’m not going to make a big deal of it because who’s to say maybe I told them the wrong info but I am sorry to be honest here, I wouldn’t expect the best care from this emergency room. The bathrooms were also probably some of the worst in a medical building I’ve ever seen. Let’s at least end on a good note, there were a few nurses that were very courteous and kind.

I went here throughout my first trimester while I was pregnant, and let me just say some of the nurses here are just plain rude. I told one of them to be careful with the veins in my hands while doing an IV because they're known to blow out faster than my arms and she said I was bullshitting and that I was being a baby. What kind of nurse says that to a patient? A pregnant one nonetheless? Then yesterday was the first time I've been there to be seen, since being induced for birth, I was trying see how I can leave after being there for 4 hours and one of the nurses kept ignoring my request to take out my IV and started speaking to another patient right infront of me. I literally was only waiting on ultrasound results, which shouldn't take an hour by the way I've gotten results back faster from an OB office than the emergency room. But, they didn't tell me what was wrong with me, the whole 4hrs I was there not once did I actually see a doctor besides triage. I also overheard nurses talking about crazies in the ER and how they didnt want to deal with them while I was in the IV fusion room. No wonder the performance score was bad. I don't think I'll go back to Mercy unless it's to birth another child or the nurses/staff actually start caring about their patients and start actually being professional.

I spent 11 hours last night there with an actual medical emergency THAT IM STILL EXPERIENCING THIS MORNING RIGHT NOW without being helped!!! They could not figure out what’s wrong so they just told me to leave. These doctors should be ashamed of themselves, I saw them helping people with NON MEDICAL EMERGENCIES all day and night, while they couldn’t bother to figure out what’s wrong with me? I pray I don’t die from whatever this pain is. I truly can’t believe they couldn’t bother helping me, and instead just told me to see a primary care doctor for a MEDICAL EMERGENCY, while helping so many people with non medical emergencies
Dr Nicholas Schulack does not care what happens to me.

I usually give Mercy ER five stars after my visits, but since my latest experience, that has changed dramatically.
I hurt my knee so badly that I couldn't walk. I was in total pain. But when asked for pain medication, the nurses and the doctor told me they couldn't . "Because of one bad apple, we can't prescribe any pain pills."
So I have to be in extreme pain because you put me in that group.
I think you should reconsider who your patients are. Not all of us are drug addicts.
Shame on yo

I was seen for a fractured shoulder and everyone involved was courteous, compassionate, and professional. I was particularly impressed by the nurse practitioner. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Honestly, I haven’t been to other emergency rooms but they have to be better than this. Staff is friendly but there is so much that is wrong. Floors are dirty (blood, dirt, who knows), things are broken, bathrooms are not cleaned enough. An example of something broken, see video of door banging against the rail every time it opens. Wednesday I was here and spent 8 hours for pain and didn’t get medicine for hours. And unfortunately doctor said I had to come back. He said if I came early on Sat I should be in and out in a two hours. Well I got here 6 am, the place was pretty empty, got labs done in the two hours and then they said they wanted to do another test and it would be quick. So they put me back in a room and told me to sit in the chair (not the bed, there was no blanket or pillow). Didn’t hear from anyone for an hour, had to flag down a nurse who said they would try to find out for me. For her to finally bring someone and say they are really busy and it will be a much longer wait. I understand there is triage, but don’t say one thing and not follow through. Or put me back in an empty room to forget about me. There is something very wrong with their ED system.

First, for pictures below, I asked for a call light. The nurse said I couldn't have one because I was kind of on suicide watch but not officially. So, he said, they couldn't have all those tubes around me. Please look at the pics. Then I went to the BR and all chord type things were then gone. Ridiculous. My RN acted like she wished I just would go ahead and kill myself except for the paperwork. Mean! Shorter person with longer hair up and back. Everything was a fight and like she didn't believe anything I said! I asked to talked to her boss and asked why the nurse seems to dislike me. The charge nurse told me I was being demanding. I apologized and asked what I had done and she walked away. Another resident, RN, aide, told me to get into bed when I was super cold. He had a blanket in his arms. I truly thought it was fir me because I had asked for one. He told me I could only waive from my bed when I needed assistance. This is against JACHO rules. I am pretty glad today that I am alive in-spite of my inhumane treatment at this institution.
