This was my first encounter with JFK Hospital and I was truly surprised at how everyone treated me. I had to go to Emergency and was taken straight away and no problem. The Doctors and Nurses were very kind and understanding. They had taken my husband in earlier as I had been directed to a different hospital and I was in a terrible state. They calmed me down so nicely and then took me to my husband and all was well. JFK treated both of us with patience and respect. All I have is good things to say and so glad we were treated so nicely and will highly recommend this hospital. Thank you JFK for being there when needed. June.

My partner went in for severe back and chest pain. They gave her pain meds which actually didn’t help despite how strong they are. They did a chest CT and it came out clear, but my problem is they sent her home while she was actively sobbing in pain.. they told her just to follow up with a primary and there’s no reason to come back to the ER. My partner has a VERY strong pain tolerance and almost nothing bothers her. I’ve never seen her in so much pain yet they still decided to send her home and not even admit her for observation. Not to mention they made her WALK out of the ER. Didn’t even offer a wheelchair even though she quite literally couldn’t stand because of the pain. Please know, I WILL be filing legal action against this hospital. Absolutely despicable how she was treated.

I was very impressed with everything about HCA Florida JFK Hospital from the moment that I entered and the reception staff were helpful and friendly. All of the staff, especially the nurses and doctors, were excellent at helping me and communicating with me. I didn't have to ask anyone to call, they called me frequently with updates. Thank you for everything you did to help my husband.

When I initially entered the ER I was greeted and immediately tended to for my kidney stones. The pain was so overwhelming and everyone was quick to tend to my needs and take the pain away immediately. If I could split this review up I would say the ER would get a five star. Once they admitted me to sleep overnight I was giving a shared room. Nurse came into the room introduced herself did my vitals and said that she would be back. I only saw the nurse two other times in the duration from 2:00 in the afternoon until midnight. I was never giving any IV with fluids even though my body needed it I was never given any water other than one time even though that was the whole reason why they were keeping me so that I could stay hydrated to be able to try and push the kidney stone. I rang the nurses but in numerous times because my pain had worn off and no one showed. At 11:00 p.m. a urologist came into my room and told me even though the size of my kidney stone is very large they will not be doing surgery and he will be sending me home to deal with the pain for the next week and a half with only ibuprofen 800 and medicine to help me push my kidney stone which is called Flomax. I tried to explain to him that the pain was unbearable and that is what led me to come to the hospital but he seemed to shrug his shoulders and say oh well kidney stones are painful I then explained to him that I have to go to work and he said I work too. I was in disbelief of how arrogant of a doctor he was and just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. He then said to me he didn't know why they were keeping me overnight if it was up to him he would have let me go right then and there. The very next morning another nurse came in at 6:00 a.m. that is the first time I saw a nurse since 8:00 p.m.. By that point I was so uncomfortable with pain they didn't even get a chance until 11:30 to administer more pain meds. A doctor came in that I have not met prior and asked me how my experience was. Obviously I explained to him how I felt ignored and not taken care of properly considering that I stayed overnight. I explained to him how upset I was that there's no way that I can go home and be in pain the way I was when I entered the hospital for another week and a half he agreed with me and didn't understand why the urologist was only going to be sending me home with ibuprofen 800.
By 2:00 I was administered out and sent home with four different types of medicines. They expect me to go back in a week and a half and follow up to get more exams to see whether or not I passed my kidney stone. I would rather die than spend another day in your hospital. I will take myself elsewhere and get exams and taken care of the way someone should be taken care of. Patients Beware... I would like to say it was only my experience that was bad but unfortunately the person I shared the room with also had a horrible experience to the point that three doctors and three nurses had to get involved to fix the situation since she was ignored for 12 hours when diagnosed with sepsis. Unexcusable I don't care whether or not you are short staffed not our problem you have no problem in taking our money from our insurance companies or if we don't have insurance taking money from us and wanting us to pay immediately but yet you're not taking care of us when we're at your facility.

The best hospital experience ever. It is very clean. Wonderful staff. Great doctors. It puts other hospitals to shame. This hospital proves that it can be done. No excuses for all the other hospitals.

The wait for my father to be taken back wasn't long. The staff was very courteous and listened to our concerns in the ER. Lab work was fast and getting him admitted. The surgeon, Dr. Pena and Dr. F. Albadrasawi did a great job and had impeccable bedside manner. Thank you, JFK!

ER treatment was satisfactory. I was brought in fully conscious so I was rightfully diagnosed as a non critical patient. Saw ER doctor 10 minutes later who ordered a blood test. Unfortunately they had to draw blood 2 more times because the blood work wasn’t tested soon enough so it had coagulated because of a backlog of blood tests. I had waited approximately 7 hours in an emergency waiting room for a hospital room. It appears that the ER side and the general hospital side are run as two separate entities as the hospital side didn’t “see me” in their computer system from the ER computer system until later in the day. With that said every nurse, doctor and orderly tried their very best to provide the best care given the amount of patients on my floor. My orderly (if that is the correct term) Michellein was very helpful with her care of my room and was a treasure to talk too. They work 36 hour shifts so I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to thank her personally. In closing I was seen every morning by a hospitalist doctor giving me a recap of my case along with specialists from cardiology and neurology. Its a busy place and understanding that with a little patience with the staff goes along way.

I had back surgery here about a year ago and then recently went to the emergency room. As a retired nurse, I can say that this is a fabulous medical Center. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive and very caring. I felt well taken care of. If I ever need medical care I will always go here and I recommend it to all of my friends.
