Brought my daughter here today and I’ve always loved HOAG for years, but staff seem on edge now. Sharp tongued staff who like it best if you bend at the knee to them. Asked for a blanket for my daughter and nurse snapped at me. Something has happened with HOAG and service isn’t what it once was. Drs are all very nice, but staff seem burdened with their duties. Sad to see our country falling apart under budget cuts which is probably why the service isn’t very good anymore.

I brought my 90 year old dad in because he had been extremely tired and weak for a couple of days. The ER was busy. The process of check in, vitals station, triage, first doctor with blood work ordered and an EKG ordered was super efficient and the staff very nice. Another doctor met with us and the got my dad a bed in a cubicle in ER. Then another doctor came in and another specialist came in. He was very well cared for in a loving, efficient, and knowledgeable manner. High five!

Totally impressed with this hospital ER. Efficient, clean, good staff and state of the art equipment. The CT Machine is state of the art. I was literally in it for 30 seconds.

When I checked in for possible kidney stone they took my vitals within 5 minutes, met with a triage nurse within 15 minute, drew blood 3 minutes later. Then taken back to CT machine at about 40 minutes. Bloodwork and CT results were back at about 90 minutes. Diagnosis confirmed. ☹️
Should be getting a shot for pain shortly and will be on my way.

Exceptional staff and care! I visited for a medical emergency, and Dr. Cunningham was outstanding—empathetic, thorough, and attentive. He made sure all the necessary tests were done and that I was well taken care of and comfortable. My nurse was also incredibly kind and caring. Thank you so much for your help; your team embodies what I hope for in a medical emergency.

My poor 93-year-old grandma was having major facial pain and she left with these horrible iv marks just after one day because the nurses couldn’t get her veins… Literally this is like elder abuse. If you can’t get the vein then you get the IV machine to help find the veins you don’t poke your 93 year old grandma to death and have all these marks all over her arms, like a pin cushion. I am really disappointed in urgent care at Hoag hospital… She is in so much pain after leaving there and isn’t even better.

Wish 0 Stars was an option. We arrived at 9pm last night and immediately were processed through triage and registration. Not a busy night at all, but we were perplexed as to why everyone who arrive after us were leaving before we even spoke with a doctor.

It turns out that Hailey, BSM in triage forgot to scan my wife's IV and send it to Radiology around 10pm.

Because of her, we JUST got my fiancĂŠe into radiology for her CT scan. Radiology told us they've been waiting for 3 HOURS for them to send documentation of the IV being inserted. At 2:15am, we finally got her in for the scan thanks to Radiology remembering to inquire about my fiancĂŠe (who's been in excruciating pain, mind you.)

It's currently 2:30am and we're waiting for her CT scan results to come in. It's been 3 hours since they "put in" for an ultrasound, with NO UPDATES, so who knows how long we'll be here.

Thanks to Hailey and Hoag for wasting 3-4 hours of our life! Slay, queen! Never returning, we miss you, Kaiser!

Nurse Patty Lash patched up two of my fingers really well after I sliced a large portion of the tips almost off. Nurse Aneela worked quickly to give me a tetanus shot and answer any questions. Tech Jordan helped rebandage my fingers and took my vitals after my finger tips were glued back on. Excellent service and professionalism from everyone. Expect flowers in the near future.

If I can give no stars at all, I will. Worst Emergency Department I’ve been to.

Waiting time 0/10
I had severe abdominal pain. There were 18 people in total in the triage/reception area (patients + companions in total) when I came in and it took four hours for a Physician Assistant to tell me that she will send me to do an Ultrasound. After which, it took another one and a half hour for the ultrasound to be done. And another two hours for the same Physician Assistant to tell me that she “does not know what’s wrong with me because the ultrasound and labs were clear”. If my husband did not push for a CT scan to be done, this incompetent Physician Assistant would have sent me home with a pain reliever.

Bedside manner and patient care 0000/10
No eye contact and the people here stare at their computers while talking to you. I understand that they have to take down notes but I believe it takes a truly competent and well-trained healthcare professional to be able to do it whilst making the patient feel that you are treating him/her and not just typing to get to the next case.

The orderlies 10/10
The ONLY friendly people are the orderlies who take you to and from imaging. Everyone else just function like robots.

I do not understand why Physician Assistants are allowed to say “I don’t know what’s wrong with you” after 10-12 hours of being in the ED. They take so much pride with being able to function like PHYSICIANS, they should be able to back it up with more expertise and knowledge.

0/10 RECOMMENDING YOU TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
