Writing on behalf patient who is unable to voice his opinion because he’s currently in the ER at a different facility. Stayed over night in the ER observation due to blood vomiting for 3 days. Blood pressure was extremely high. The doctor last night assured us we can do a throat scope to determine what the cause of blood in his vomit was. They suspected an esophageal tear or an ulcer. The next morning which is today, we were told doctor Shane Eugene Mass PA was discharging us because he is stable. Patient was NOT stable, he was unable to swallow and had just vomited blood 20 mins prior to them requesting discharge. He and a nurse named Sara Rigo refused to help him off the floor of the restroom this morning as he threw up more blood. They refused to even come in the room and help the patient off the floor. Both Shane and Sara said we need to leave because they kept saying he is stable. Vomiting blood for 3 days, unable to swallow, and extremely high blood pressure does not seem stable. I asked Shane Eugene Mass if he honestly felt it was safe to discharge a patient who is actively vomiting blood for several days. He said “yes I discharge patients all the time that are vomiting blood.” He said we should go home make an appointment with our primary doctor. Very unprofessional and disappointing from an organization that prides itself on care. Shane Eugene Mass does not care for his patients please be careful when trusting him with your health. They contacted security and forced us to leave. I made sure to take a video of the situation they both referred to as stable because he was definitely not. As soon as I did so the nurse Sara Rigo called security and asked her to make me delete the video. Security informed Sarah Rigo, that she cannot make me delete a video. Obviously this nurse felt she did something wrong or she wouldn’t have requested the video be deleted. We left in tears and unsure how things were going to transpire since the patient is unable to swallow and still vomiting blood with extremely high blood pressure. I am happy to report immediately went to another emergency room and are being treated with much better service. Patient was immediately admitted to the hospital given his current condition that Shane Eugene Mass considered to be stable. Please do not trust SHANE EUGENE MASS, PA or nurse SARA RIGO with your health or anyone you love. I have included photos of both Shane Eugene Mass and Sara Rigo. I also included photos of the blood in vomit and the condition the patient was in when Shane Eugene Mass forced us to leave calling the patient stable. Anyone In the medical field knows this is not ok to treat patients this way. Sara Rigo knows it is too which is why she begged security to have me delete the entire footage on my phone. Shame on you both, for treating patients this way and then trying to cover it up. I hope this review served as a warning to others. Please think twice before walking through these doors for care. And if you are given Shane Eugene Mass or Sara Rigo to care for you please ask for anyone else. These two should be fired the way they treat patients.

This place is absolutely terrible, it’s a super expensive 1 star hotel stay basically. I was there a total of 4.5 hours and was checked in on 2 times prior to me complaining about the care I received in the 1st 3.5 hours. During the time I was neglected I didn’t get tested for nothing other then a xray then the doctor SHANE MASS comes in and says well we’re just waiting on urine test but you couldn’t can you now and I told him you never asked me to take one and in a condescending tone he said then go take one as if it were my fault. After an hour Dr. SHANE MASS comes back and says we are waiting for your COVID/RSV/FLU Test and my response was nobody has taken them. I don’t believe SHANE MASS ever looked at my chart or my records or provided any car or proper instructions it was an expensive guessing game that I am now stuck paying the bill on. The doctor and nurses are not in sync at all. Then he says all results are good and not once mentioned what tests they were, I looked at the my chart they had and 3 test were abnormal he didn’t even care to explain I had to chat with my doctor to go over the results and do a follow up. This was the worst experiences I’ve had here and I always enjoyed coming here, this will be my last time. To add to all that they put me in a room that had the l curtain coming out of the track and nobody cared to try to have it put up everyone that came by could see me not just doctors but all the family members of the other people in that room I did not feel safe at all I felt like I was just out there. I witnessed a man pee from his bed to the ground right across my space since it was wide open I had no privacy, he saw me laying here sick. Dr SHANE MASS needs to work on his customer service, his care and take ownership regardless of what’s going on he treats you like if you were stupid with comments like “I’ll get you a note for work and you can watch your movies and we’ll get you on your way”. After this I had had enough and told him all the let downs I had all of a sudden they came in about 6 time in the last 1.5 hours, he got up and fixed the curtain “I’m no maintenance guy but I can put up a curtain”, asked me what medicine I wanted and then discharged me.

Please don’t use this hospital in case of emergency. I pens like 7 hours on emergency, they took my vitals and I was never seen by a doctor ( I had a broken bone ) they told me I was going to be contacted to schedule an appointment and that never happened, in fact they could find my information and they make me feel I was making all that up while someone told me that information at emergency and my discharge paperwork had the same information. They told me once again I was going to be contacted and guess what .. they gave a a wrong number to reach back if necessary. JUST GO TO DENVER HEALTH!! They are much nicer and they really took care of my broken arm

What a wonderful place of healing. My parents are elderly and always receive the utmost care and kind attention here. The surgeons, doctors, nurses, cleaning people and security are always competent and caring. I'm so thankful for all of you.

The ER nurses are awesome, Kait was wonderful! Dr Edward's needs a few more rounds with an experienced Dr and needs to work on his bedside manor! He's very cocky, he talks down to patients and did not listen to anything we said or even his nurses! He told us we would be back, no thanks! I'll take the drive next time to a farther location if it means not dealing with him again!

My friend presented at the ED yesterday in excruciating pain; literally writhing, moaning, vomiting and crying “someone, please help me! Help me!”. When I got there the staff members at the desk told me that they had “found her on the floor of the bathroom and she was hyperventilating and needed to work on breathing normally”, so they put her in a wheelchair and put her back into the waiting room. I asked if they had any idea how long it would be until she could see a doctor, and was casually told that it was a busy day and there were 12-13 patients ahead of her. Please believe me when I say that there was not a single other person in that waiting room that was ANYWHERE near as obviously desperate or sick as my friend. Sitting around on your phone VS wailing in pain and telling medical staff that you’re having a hard time breathing, that the pain is getting worse…hm. I called Rose and got her to their ED, and guess what?

St. Joe’s piss poor triage system and lack of awareness, compassion, and critical thinking would have actually killed my friend, who was suffering from a severely lacerated spleen and kidney and needed immediate surgical intervention. St. Joe’s staff would have let her die slowly and painfully in their waiting room, crying for help, while she bled out internally. Good job, guys. Never in my life will I recommend that anyone, anywhere, try to get help at your facility. You should be ashamed.

Let’s face it. A trip to the ER usually means we’re experiencing one of our worst days. Add uncontrolled pain and we’re probably in a lousy mood, too. We’re there because we need care and we want it now.

Given the nature of emergency medicine, medical staff have to prioritize care based on severity. As patients, we typically know nothing about what other kind of patients are there. The reality is that ER staff see the entire scope of patients needing their care while we see only our own reason for being there. To us, we are their top priority.

From the moment my wife and I entered the Saint Joseph ED, staff handled us professionally and timely. Yes, I would’ve preferred to be seen by a doctor immediately given my pain level, but my wait wasn’t unreasonable either. It just felt like forever.

In the end, they diagnosed the source of my pain (a dissected artery) and managed that pain appropriately, even bringing in one of their vascular specialists to see me on a Sunday. Their diagnosis was thoroughly explained along with treatment recommendations and all questions that I had were answered to my satisfaction.

The care I received by the Saint Joseph ER team was exceptional. I’d go so far as to call it “life-saving”. I’m grateful to all who cared for me and to those patients who had to wait for me to receive care ahead of their own.

To the entire team at Saint Joseph ER, thank you for your extraordinary care!!!

Worst emergency room in all of Denver. Staff has pis poor attitudes and Supposed Dr's. Are incompetent. Never had a Dr say that kidney stones don't cause pain till I visited Saint Joseph's hospital. Longest wait times in all of Denver.
