My recent experience accompanying a friend to the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center emergency room left me deeply concerned. My friend arrived around 8:30 PM, suffering from what was ultimately diagnosed as a kidney stone. The pain was excruciating—unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed—and I was genuinely worried it might trigger a heart attack due to its intensity.

Unfortunately, he had to endure an unconscionable wait before being seen by a physician. During that time, he was left in severe pain without access to the medication that could have provided much-needed relief. While I understand that proper diagnosis is critical before administering treatment, the delay was excessive and deeply troubling.

I want to emphasize that this is not a critique of the professionalism or competency of the nursing ot medical staff. Once he was seen, his care appeared thorough, and the diagnosis of renal calculi was appropriately handled. However, the prolonged wait before intervention reflects systemic issues that require urgent attention. No patient should have to suffer that degree of pain for hours on end, particularly in an emergency setting where swift action can make a life-changing difference.

In summary, while the professional staff performed competently within the constraints of their system, the length of time my friend spent waiting for care was unacceptable. This experience suggests the need for improved efficiency and the hiring of substantially more emergency room professional staff.

By far the worse care ever. After 3 hours of waiting I took my boyfriend and left to bay shore ER. He was immediately taken in with his blood pressure 224/130!!!! Don’t go to this hospital ever!

They will bring you in without having the personnel to treat you. You end up waiting for hours to get triaged while sitting in a hall with many other sick people. They refuse to provide family an update on the status of your child while making you wait outside in the lobby.

Absolutely worse care I’ve have ever witnessed in my 63 years on this earth. Deplorable is putting it lightly. Patients on rollaway beds lined up in the hallways, waiting for rooms? We are hearing personal information related to patients conditions. People with all different symptoms jammed into a tiny little waiting room. One of which my daughter who is 15 weeks pregnant. Her obgyn told her to immediately go to have a sonogram due to a possible injury to her fetus. Only to wait 3 hours and then told there were still 10 people in front of her. When I later discussed our concerns with the medical director, I was told the people that she was sitting so close to in the tiny room were the same ones she was sitting with in the larger lobby. After telling him that social distancing should be something that as a medical director he should be aware of and practicing, I was told he didn’t like my tone and if I wasn’t going to be respectful he wasn’t going to discuss it any further. She left without treatment. We then took her to HCAs Doctors ER on state rt 70 where she was properly triaged and seen immediately. In my opinion my daughter was put at risk due to the negligence of the Lakewood Ranch ER staff. And you don’t want to get me started on HIPAA rights. 🤦‍♀️

Had another great experience at LWR ER! They were amazing, everyone so kind and Dr Fernandez was wonderful.
Really Took time and really eliminated with many tests any problems that it could have been.
I was there 3 hours mostly waiting for a multitude of test results. We are so grateful they are there when we need them especially at our age!

My elderly father who suffered from Parkinson's disease and had a psychotic episode caused by a medication for his disease was seen in the emergency department. Unfortunately he was discharged in the same psychotic state of mind he was admitted for. The emergency staff threatened to call to sheriff if I didn't come to pick him up in the early morning hours after being seen in the emergency department. Upon arrival I had to ask for help to place in my vehicle. He was clearly an unsafe discharge and still psychotic. After a long battle to place in my father in my vehicle, he attempted to open the car door and jump out of the vehicle on university parkway. This is clearly a result of substandard care. Several days later he was seen by a doctor who discontinued the medication that caused the psychotic episode. The lack of compassion and above all else substandard care almost became a completely preventable tragedy.

Went today for chest pain issues. I asked if the facility and doctor took florida blue. Was told the facility did but the front desk person didn't know if the doctor did, I asked her to check but she ignored it. Piss poor customer service. POST ON THE WEBSITE AND ON THE WINDOW OF THE ER WHAT INSURANCE THE DOCTOR TAKES....OR IS THAT TOO DIFFICULT. WHY WOULD I WANT TO PAY FOR OUT OF NETWORK WHEN I DON'T HAVE TO. That's what's wrong with the medical care in this country...no communication..all about money.

Made an unexpected stop at LWR medical today after a chainsaw incident. Becca and Luca did a great job cleaning and stitching me up. Admin and check in were top notch also.
