Absolutely horrible, miserable excuse of a doctor that works here named Dr James Trettin. I am 20 weeks pregnant, and developed horrible lower back right side pain that was causing me pain that was awakening me every night screaming out and vomiting. I don't go to the ER for fun, but this doctor was treating me like I was. My primary doctor told me if my symptoms continue to get worse, to keep going back. I made the mistake of going again even though I woke up in the middle of the night screaming out in pain. The first time I went to Lompoc ER (Friday morning), he told me he suspected a kidney stone and didn't do anything about it. I said well the labs that were taken on me at Marian in SM didn't show anything (little did I know.. I was waiting on my urinalysis results and had a 17.2 white blood cell count). I was lucky I had an appt with my primary doctor in the afternoon and she told me to return to the ER if it got worse again. Well it did, at 2 am Sunday morning I get triaged all the way to the bottom. Once I see him, I mention to him how my primary doctor suggests it could be kidney related while crying out in pain. He brushed off my pain saying this is normal for pregnancy and he took back what he says about it being related to kidneys. NO! definitely NOT NORMAL. He said he reviewed all my labs from Marian which is not true because my labs were still processing for the urinalysis at SM! Sunday morning came around, and Marian called me and said they found high levels of bacteria in my urine and prescribed me antibiotics.
This jerk of a doctor really had the nerve to blame me this on anxiety, and tell me it is due to pregnancy. He is a poor excuse and with his care, I could have ended up dead. Oh, and they asked for a urine sample and lost it. Shame on this doctor for blaming "anxiety" for my pain and pregnancy. If I was soley under his care, I can guarantee I would be on my death bed now. Stay away and please find a compassionate doctor. I hear the Santa Ynez hospital is great, Marian is too but just be aware you may have to wait a really long time to be seen there. Dr. James Trettin, if you are reading this, you really need to be more caring because you make ER doctors look awful! 🙁

My recent visit to the Emergency Room (1-8-2025) was a pleasant surprise. Not just because the service and care was compassionate and comprehensive... which it was, but because I hate going to the doctor, hospital etc. Unfortunately I wasn't getting better doing nothing, so hence the visit. Every nurse, orderly, tech, clerical and doctor were excellent and informative. I'm better finally and glad I went!

If I could give both the hospital and emergency room 0 stars I would. They discharge people because they feel like it and it has seriously affected others in many ways. My mom went multiple times for her heart and they said nothing's wrong just for her to go to Santa Barbara and they tell her she needs a heart transplant. LIKE SERIOUSLY!? don't go here at all go to either Santa Barbara hospital, Santa Maria hospital, or san ynez hospital.

I had the best experience with Dr. Reichel in the ER, and all of the nurses, ultrasound tech, and phlebotomists that helped me. I felt taken care of and listened to, and I really appreciated the way I was treated when I was going through something difficult.

If I could give them less I would. Sat for 4 1/2 hours without being seen to the point where I just left. If you value your health don’t come here.

I really felt like I needed to do this. Someone had told me to never go to the Lompocs ER, that it's terrible and everyone is rude and don't care. Then I saw the couple of negative reviews. But my experience was the complete opposite and I felt I needed to share it. From the very first person to attend me to the very last, I felt understood and cared for. I felt the sympathy towards me was genuine. Everyone went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and offer condolences to how I was feeling. From bed positioning, warm blankets, checking in on me or keeping me updated, I was treated fairly, like a human being, like a patient. And every time I kept apologizing (for walking slow, for even showing up, for all the extra support they were providing for me) they would always say "please don't apologize that is what I'm here for". It was raining and the winds were blowing super hard. With my pain they refused to let me walk to my car, even offered to bring it to me to the front, and even though I said no I didn't want to inconvenience them, my wonderful nurse practitioner and wonderful RN wheelchaired me to my car in that rainstorm. I will not forget how they all made me feel, important and valued as a patient even throughout my back pain. Please understand that the ER department gets swamped and there are alot of stressful moments and lots of emotions they have to deal with all day. Be kind and patient with the staff, our nurses. They do so much for us and some of us treat them like crap and like we are entitled. They are human too. Give respect, earn respect. Thank you Lompoc ER team for making me feel taken care of when I needed it the most. I won't forget your kindness.

I went in for severe abdominal pain to the point I was crying and screaming in the waiting room didn't went in until almost an hour later no meds or anything. They diminished my symptoms and made me feel I was crazy. The lack of professionalism and compassion is stunning very poor quality patient care. (Talking as a Heathcare Worker myself)
Clearly, is not until you drop dead on the floor that they might actually care.
