Visited the ER Saturday 10/12/24. Was triage right away. After that it went downhill. Was told by nurse that the resident had left the hospital and only PA and NP was running the ER which was alarming to hear. There was extreme apathy in the staffing and providers. No vending machine available. People were hungry, no beverages. People were very frustrated and hungry out after the extreme long wait. People started to walk out including myself. I waited 9.5 hrs after my lab and chest xray was completed hours ago. All I needed was to see a provider to get results and given a prescription. I was extremely weak, felt very dehydrated, no fluid offered. Blood pressure was dropping. Just sitting in a chair with no medical attention. I inquired 3 times. How much longer waiting. The waiting room was filled with 99.5% african Americans. No one seemed to care that people were suffering more while in a medical facility. They kept pushing me further back. People came in long after me and was seen before me which made me angry. I am a nurse Practitioner and have worked in ER. I have never seen where there is no resident or physician working in ER to oversee NP and PA. Something is very wrong here and administration need to investigate the protocols of how patient should be seen and discharged after all tests have been completed on a patient. You leave the ER feeling like nobody cared, nobody helped you. Very sad and disappointed to see a major university with so many flaws. Staff was not rude but apathy was all over the place with Staff and providers. No kindness shown. Beautiful brick and motor but when you show you don't respect people time and the need for care. Beautiful building means nothing.

It should not take 12 hours to receive medical triage care. This is apparantly the low bar of care Methodist University sets as this is third time family member have been forced to rely upon ER this year and all three times were similar 12+ hour events.

Don't believe their sign in waiting room "Your care matters". Find another ER and don't give them your money. Maybe that will improve patient care committment.

I laughed when I see their website claims minimal wait time. That's just to get checked in.

If you don’t care about living or dying, then this place is alright to go to. If you would like to live, go somewhere else. I was kept waiting for 6 hours and was met with dismissiveness when I tried to ask how much longer. What a horrible way to treat someone going through a medical emergency. After 6 hours, I was seen by a nurse practitioner. No hate against NP’s but it’s wild to not have a stand by doctor in the ER. I still don’t know how to access my patient portal because no one ever gave me clear instructions. However, what Methodist University does know how to do, is bill and harass you multiple times via multiple points of contact. If they were as thorough as they were coming after you to pay the bill with patient care, a lot more lives would be saved. But this is where you go to if you want to die while hunched over in the waiting room.

I don't even want to give on star. They are a joke. Waiting over 5 hours to be seen. I left without seeing a doctor. Got here at 9:30 in the morning and walked out at 3 in the afternoon. Don't even go here. Emts are arriving and putting really sick and bleeding people out in the waiting room. Staff just talking with each about weekend plans and not checking or taking care of the people that need to be seen. I'll take my chances with fate. 13 years US news best. That's a lie.

Asked an employee (Black young med height heavy set lady with Afro Bob) pushing a wheelchair back to the Emergency Room Desk where I could get a CNA to take me to the Credit Union near the Cafeteria, she looked away & scoffed on 10/16/24 between 12:15-12:45 pm after lunchtime. She was Rude, Unhelpful & Lazy. Customer service & patient care training needs to be reinforced. They want the pay but don't want to work, why keep them. The public is the reason they can pay their bills etc.
