Respectful and kind doctors and nurses
Waiting time is as usual everywhere long but so nice to have attention from staff and wishes to feel better. They also did examination with x-ray(or smth like that) I asked for, to be sure everything is fine.
My situation wasn’t extremely emergency but I was feeling safe there and understandable

Very pleasant and professional staff. Everyone was active with communication between paramedics that brought me, and then one on one with me. The doctors advised that they wanted to take more precaution to rule everything out and make sure they were confident to send me on my way and that was comforting. All were very respectful, very mindful about consent/privacy. And they let my 2 friends stay with me. All had a great sense of humor and I’m very grateful for the staff here.

All medical were extremely helpful, caring and showed me sincere concern. Have no problem with medical. My problem was I ordered food was not allowed to get it. The hospital has had at least 2 years to create a policy for that doesn't leave their patients with a bad taste or in this case

DO NOT GO HERE FOR MENTAL HEALTH EMERGENCIES. I was there a month ago for depression and anxiety.

The nurses and doctors will not give you the time of day or even look in your direction. They will not give you food. They will not tell you what is happening (in fact, they will lie). I was told I'd be in for a couple of hours. After that time passes (I only knew what time it was because I would peek at the TV in the staff break room), I ask for updates and they say I will be out in an hour. This happened in 2-3 hour intervals until I just gave up. I was there for over 12 hours.

I asked to call my mother to let her know where I was. They said okay and just to wait a few minutes. Hours pass and I ask again. They say okay and to wait a bit longer. I got to call her eventually but it took hours. If they were waiting on someone to supervise me on the phone, I wish they would let me know. They will just say things to make you shut up if they do answer you (i.e. "It will just be a few minutes", "The doctor will be here soon and you can ask him then", "If you keep asking questions, we will keep you here longer"). I have to add that I was not pestering them, I am really shy and try to avoid being annoying. I'd wait a couple of hours before requesting anything. It isn't fair to be locked in a basement indefinitely without being told what is going to happen next, especially when you came there voluntarily.

If you do not let them draw blood for testing, they will keep you there until you do it. They will act like you are a burden to them. They will lock themselves in the nurses station and keep you in the hall trapped with ANYONE else they bring in off of the streets. No phones or means of entertainment at all. They take your things when you get there and lock them up without explaining anything. There are no windows. The lights make it impossible to sleep overnight and being yelled at/harassed by other patients didn't help either.

A male nurse, who I believe I was assigned to, was the worst. He'd get annoyed when you ask him anything. I asked if I could sleep in a room but I changed my mind once I saw that the bed was just a slab of concrete with a mattress and dirty sheet on top. He must have taken it personally because he went to another nurse and complained that I made him get up for nothing. He made a show about clocking out later and dapped up everyone and gave them advice but completely ignored me. I'm not entitled to a goodbye, but it was obviously deliberate how he went down the line and skipped me. I asked the person and the nurse next to me if they saw that and the male nurse just started talking louder over me. I felt extremely low at that point.

I understand working in mental health emergencies is stressful, but patients are human beings. A lot of these people are at really low points in their lives and it wouldn't hurt to show kindness when you can. I remember a nurse telling someone with special needs that they couldn't call their mom because their mom wanted a break from them. Why would you say that to someone? It's not supposed to be a holding facility for criminals, this place is for people who need real help. It has been over a month and I still think about this place. Whoever was working the night of March 11-12, 2024, do not even set foot in a hospital again if you are going to continue to treat people this way.
