The worst! I came here with an EColi UTI on or around Dec 2, was under treated & ended up sicker about a week later…I followed up with my PCP & was represcribed antibiotics but the infection came back yet again. At that time I was traveling so went to another ER & was treated yet again…then once again the infection came back, much much worse over Christmas as flank pain, nausea, vomiting, fever & inability to urinate. It was also determined to be a resistant strain of Ecoli from the last ER I was seen at. This is a serious infection at this point & I am very sick.
I tried to get help at Scripps the evening of Dec 27 but it was so crowded & I was so sick I left (I took some left over antibiotics & then what antibiotics I could get from a telehealth provider who understood the seriousness, to hold me over for the night) & returned the following morning the 28th..after waiting for hours & hours the doctor would barely find time to treat me & (even after I was given advice from my primary provider to try to get admitted for observation, more aggressive treatment & further study). Scripps would not admit me for more aggressive treatment or for observation, after 5 weeks of a resistant EColi infection & organ pain! Apparently, I have to wind up fully septic & near death to be taken seriously. It’s not even my insurance denying this, it’s Scripps! Even though I repeatedly tell them I have awful flank pain (& the labs are not a full representation because of the antibiotics I was given through telehealth however after personally viewing the UA culture “many” bacteria are present along with a blood panel indicating a present infection) The wait time was hours & I definitely can’t forget to mention the facility is a tent! See the pics below. This has medical malpractice written all over it, which is exactly where I’m going Monday if this thing spirals into septicemia. Not a litigious person, but as I wait at a different ER I’ll be on the phone with a malpractice lawyer, if I’m not too sick to do so.
As I write this it’s the following morning & Im still feel sick, & now really scared because I’ll have to head back to another ER (obviously a different one that hopefully cares about resolving this) & do the whole hours & hours of wait & process again (CT, labs, UA, etc).
I do want to clarify my nurse was great, wish I had her name she deserves a raise (she tried herself to advocate for me against the ER doc & urologist) as they gaslit & minimized my situation and very reasonable concerns & advice of my PCP.
Please beware, the crowding, (the people there being treated for minor ailments that should be at there PCP) & especially the on call urologist are awful. Absolutely go somewhere else if you can!! Idk what’s going on with this place but it feels downright dangerous.

Hands down the WORST experience I have ever experienced in a medical setting. We came to the ER due to alcohol poisoning. The front desk ladies were incredibly rude and unhelpful. A 16 year old with alcohol poisoning is pushed aside to wait for over an hour with no one checking her vitals or anything. When we finally get called into the room, the PA Mark Beyer spoke to us for all of 2 minutes before he left and never came back. He did NOT examine the patient AT ALL. Which is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY considering he stated on his notes that he checked her eyes, heart, lungs, abdomen, and neck. He was extremely dismissive of our concerns and said there was nothing he was going to do, as well as making us seem crazy for asking for a breathalyzer. The only helpful and kind person in the entire establishment was the med tech (I wish we got his name he was the only one in the entire building with any sort of bedside manner).

Everyone who goes to the ER obviously doesn’t want to be there, they’re in pain, uncomfortable and more often than not, scared. The absolute least thing people can do is be kind and compassionate and there was NONE of that. I am incredibly angry and quite honestly DISGUSTED with the level of “care” we received at this establishment.

If you or anyone you love or care about needs medical treatment, do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here.

The ER is very organized. The triage nurses handle patients with great care. Obviously they don’t have enough beds with the remodel going on. They still manage to get you the tests you need, and then provide care accordingly. I even saw the Chaplain empty the trash in the ER waiting room. The only issue I have is the lack of decent snacks or drink choices (vending) available while you’re there for hours! The ER docs seem stretched thin, but do an excellent job.

Great care but understaffed at times. Long wait times but you get triaged by a RN so if it’s more urgent you don’t have to wait to see the doctor and get meds. Very knowledgeable doctors and nurses when you get seen they don’t rush you through the process. Ask all your questions and things you don’t know go ask are given to you at check out with written discharge instructions. Prescriptions are sent in right away too! Or get them filed there by Scripps if it’s in your insurance plans network.

I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Nurse Ann during my recent visit at Scripps Encinitas. From the moment we arrived, she exhibited a level of professionalism and compassion that made a significant difference in our experience.

Nurse Ann consistently went above and beyond to ensure my wife’s comfort and well-being. It was evident that Ann truly cared about my wife’s health and recovery.

The warmth and positivity Nurse Ann brought to the our room not only uplifted my spirits but also created a supportive atmosphere for my wife and I. Her dedication to providing outstanding care is truly commendable.

Thank you, Nurse Ann for your hard work and commitment. You are a valuable asset to Scripps Hospital and I am grateful for everything you did for us during our stay.

I went to Scripps Encinitas last Friday 9/13/24 for two reasons. I had the flu, upper right quadrant pain and lower back pain. I checked in and they took my vitals. The girl taking vitals jammed a a-tip up my nose my eyes poured water, my face turned red, and I had small chunks of blood when I blew my nose. I was taken in a room then a few minutes later I was moved to a room that was right off reception that looked like a closet. I sat there for an hour. I was told this had to happen so they could get test results for COVID. Once the results came on my Scripps app it was negative and I asked to be moved back but was told no. I could wait in this closet area or waiting room. I explained my back was hurting from the chairs in the closet and I would like to move to the waiting room. 2 hours later I was taken back for an ultrasound then Back to the waiting room. An hour later, Someone took me to a tent that was freezing. I sat there for over an hour asking if I would be taken for a scan soon and no one knew anything. A catheter was put in my arm and it was starting to hurt because it wasn’t put in all the way and it served no purpose other than for dye for a scan, which wasn’t happening. By this point I was in the ER over 5 hours, freezing, pain from a catheter in my vein, telling myself I need to get to 1:50pm and then I have to leave to pick my child up from school. It dawned on me that was putting myself through extreme circumstances to get help. I got up and asked to leave. cat was there to take me for a scan and I had no pain so I declined the scan. I left after almost 6 hours there, no answers I had no water during this time and felt very mistreated. I’m sure I will get a massive bill from them. Terrible experience and I will never go back.

This review is regarding the gentleman who could not be bothered to help my friend get a towel or assistance after she spilled 3/4 of a bottle of soda. We politely let him know that she spilled a bottle of Sprite and asked for a towel. We were perfectly willing to clean up the mess but he would not give us anything. He pointed to the bathroom and said there were paper towels in there. After dispensing 15 plus individual motion sensored towels the mess was still excessive and a hazard. Sprite is clear and three people started to walk through the walkway and we had to redirect them so they wouldn't slip. We continued to try to dry things but brown, hospital paper towels are not absorbent and the mess was still a slipping hazard. Again asked for help and got no assistance. After the third request she finally got him to get someone with a mop to help and to put a caution sign out. This was ridiculous. Just call someone to help. Accidents happen. I hope he has the day he deserves.

Thank you to the nice lady who came to mop it up and her kindness when my friend apologized.

Been sitting here almost 2 hours. Still in the lobby. So not a review of the doctors and so far other staff (we've had minimal interaction with anyone) has been very nice.

Best ER experience ever. My husband was put in a room within 15 minutes while doing paperwork. Bloodwork, vision test, CT all done in 1st hour. Dustin was the RN with great attitude, knowledge and great bedside manner. Even though we were in an ER tent, it was clean and well thought out.
We were out the door in 3 hours. This is the way an ER should be run. 👏👍
