I had a kidney stone incident and had no idea what was happening, I thought that my appendix was bursting and that I was sure to die, so despite all the horrible reviews that I’ve read about this hospital, I had no choice but to go. I had an hour wait in the waiting room, and another hour in the examination room, in the meantime my roommate went to the 7-11 down the street and got me some aspirin. When the doctor came in she asked some questions and sent me in for a cat scan, did some blood tests, and had a nurse come in and tell me that it was a kidney stone. The aspirin had relived some of the pain, not much, but enough to make me feel that I’d survive. The nurse hooked up an IV and in five minutes my pain was completely gone! They gave me a couple prescriptions and test results along with instructions for care and I was good to go. Over all service I’d give them an A+ I don’t see how they could have improved the experience. Great job!!

They were absolutely terrible. Generally, in past experiences, I’ve never had any issues coming here but this most recent visit was abysmal. They ought to be ashamed. They claim to have been so packed with people so wait time was slow. After waiting for almost 5 hours, which is expected, i get taken to a room where i am left alone for a long time. No one checked on me. No one came in to update, check or even offer me a blanket and i was freezing. I could hear the staff conversing and having a fun conversation. When i asked what am i waiting for, the response was a doctor should be coming. Not one nurse or anyone did anything. When the doctor came in, it wasn’t the original one, it was the next shift doctor. When i told him my situation and he asked did i have blood drawn, i made him aware that no one checked on me. Even he was annoyed with them and the fact that not even my blood was drawn. He promised that I’d be out in 30 mins and literally after he left, a young girl came in and drew my blood. I can tell it’s a bunch of delinquents and children working here. They have no real since of emergency or anything. Not to mention they got called out for only calling in non black people for several hours by another patient. Yeah, this experience was terrible. Literally, my situation should’ve been a quick assessment. It took me almost 8 hours to do a 30 minute job.

top level care and consideration. i hope i remember all of them; Jay, Jun, Tania, Shirley, Bobby, Alex, and the gentlemen who gave me the medicine at the end, I apologize why it escapes me right now, but you were great. And if I forgot anyone, my sincerest apologies as I was kind of out of it. And Dr. David Matherly. Thank you so much. You were awesome. And all this while they were going through a patient with a serious emergency, certainly way more than mine. I give them utmost respect and credit. Happy holidays.

I had a terrible experience at the Sherman Oaks Hospital ER, particularly with Dr. Mathew Abad. I have never written a bad review, but I do believe in holding people accountable, and I hope this can helps others avoid a similar experience.

I went in because I had an upper respiratory infection and was having difficulty breathing. I am asthmatic and my inhaler had stopped giving me relief. I waited for two and half hours, which was to be expected, and I was eventually seen by Dr. Abad. He stood at a distance, didn’t examine me, asked minimal questions, and after less than five minutes, simply said that he thought it was viral and left. When the nurse came back I was given an ibuprofen and prescribed a cough suppressant, even though I’d already been using the latter for two weeks with no relief. When I asked the nurse if I could get a lung treatment to help me breath, I was told that the doctor “refused” to give me any more treatment. I asked if it was possible to get a swap or sputum test to be more definitive about my diagnosis, and the nurse said that the doctor was not willing to see me again. I do want to note that the rest of the staff was lovely. The nurse, in particular, was kind and seemed genuinely empathetic to my frustration with the lack of care. But what I experienced was a blatant refusal of treatment. Aside from my chest X-ray, the care I received was no more than what I would have gotten from a Telehealth appointment. Needless to say I will never go to this ER again. I hope that Dr. Abad improves his approach to patient care.

My 17 year old son woke me up at 3:00am with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. We thought long and hard about whether this was an ER situation. He said the pain was intolerable so I took him Providence St. Jo’s in Burbank. The check in process there was nightmarish, with insensitive, zombie-like staff and approximately 45 people ahead of us. We are left promptly and went to Sherman Oaks. There was no wait and the entire Staff was attentive and professional. The Radiologist was kind and informative and Dr. Bartlett had a great demeanor and also informative. Turns out my son had viral infection in his stomach. He’ll be fine. Kudos to S.O Hospital ER Staff

Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary wait times… there should be laws against these type of exorbitant delays… but was more ridiculous is I called and spoke with the lady in ER earlier and while she said there were a few people in the emergency room she didn’t have the common courtesy to tell me that there’s one doctor on staff and if there’s one person ahead of you then wait hours upon hours. I don’t even understand how a hospital stays in business like this. It would’ve been nice if that girl had the decency to warn me as she knew I was calling about that type of information. I have no idea about service feeling anybody else here besides front desk because I’m still sitting in the waiting room for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours… leaving going to a different hospital. They care about their patients cause here. It feels like the opposite. I’m literally in Pain screaming in emergency room. No one else in the waiting room at all yet here for hours. Makes zero sense.

I went to the ER with horrible food poisoning, I was hyperventilating and couldn’t feel my hands and feet and was about to pass out. I was treated like a junkie instead of the 43 year old CPA mother of 2 that I am. They were very rude to me and refused to help me when I felt like I was going to die. They sent me back to the freezing cold waiting room while I was covered in sweat and in agony. I could not sit in that room and decided to leave and drive myself home because at least I could suffer in comfort there. I am extremely disappointed in the way I was treated. Everyone there I interacted with was rude and cold hearted. I was treated like a drug addict off the street. Shame on you.

The doctor rushed me while I was explaining my symptoms. She was rude, condescending, and beyond impatient. I asked to speak to another doctor and was told she was the only doctor on the floor. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was none. This by far the worst medical experience I’ve ever had. Then was told by a nurse I was being discharged and I needed to sign my discharge papers. I asked about the medications I was prescribed and was rushed to just sign. I asked again what the medications were and if they would interact with the medications I’m currently on. The nurse said no and rushed me out. Never have I ever felt so disrespected and unheard before. If I could give this place a negative star, I would. I share my experience as I hope no one in pain has to go through this here.
