First time ER patient at UC Health Emergecy Department on Briargate Pkwy, and it was an exceptional and caring experience. I was contacted by no less than 9 Staff members during my visit on September 6, 2024. From initial Security check-in, to registration, to intake and starting an IV, to my exam area and then to the amazing folks in the CAT scan Department and constant care from Dr. Tony Kim - I was treated with the utmost compassion, care, and attention to all my needs. 5 Tumbs Up for this UC Health Emeregency Department on Briargate Pkwy in Colorado Springs.

The triage at Memorial North was amazing. Quick, efficient and caring. That was the end of any semblance of compassion.
The ER was busy and the staff kept up well. Then I was left in the waiting room with no communication.
5 1/2 hours of waiting, rude doctors and no communication.
I truly expected better.
Update: I did contact the patient representative, and the response was as expected. . . they are busy.

Zero stars. I have visited this ER twice in my 4 years of living in COS. I went to the ER in October 2024 and spent like 3 hours in the waiting room, 2 hours in an actual room waiting for the provider and was asked three separate times if I was pregnant. Each time during my annoyingly long stay I said "no, I am not." I told the techs who drew my blood in the beginning, the front desk people when i checked in, and the ER doc (twice). I said no I am not pregnant and the ER doc said "are you sure?" 6+ hours later I am discharged without ever seeing an on call gastroenterologist or any other specialist (I was having extreme abdominal pain, they ruled out appendicitis) 2 months later I get an astronautical bill in the mail (I have insurance) and they charged me more than they listed on the website for those who don't have insurance. I asked for an itemized bill so I could see the charges and try to contest some of them (based on their website and the average costs of things that I found from other hospitals and a basic google search) and to my surprise I see a HGC blood pregnancy test listed for some +/- $300 that my insurance did not cover for some reason (that's a separate issue in and of itself, insurance in this country is a flipping joke). I attempted to contest the charge stating that I did not need that test done and that I told them numerous times I was not pregnant but they didn't listen/care. In the MALE doctor's/providers eye, I was not to be believed and he wanted to make sure. After contesting the charge, I was told that the provider deemed it necessary for my care to do the test so I am on the hook for the charge (along with the rest of the nearly $2,000 bill). I contacted patient services regarding this and I was told the same thing. Icing on the cake, I got a separate bill for the stupid chauvinistic ER doc's time. I spent maybe 3 minutes total talking to him and he clearly didn't even listen to me. I will now avoid this hospital at all costs and that is dangerous - This hospital would rather overcharge and not listen to their female patients than provide the necessary care. I have NEVER had a doctor (male or female) question if I was telling the truth about my own body. Disgusted.

Did not have a good experience. Doctor didn’t care what I was saying before walking out and ignoring me. No explanation of what the care plan was. My potassium was tanked and they didn’t care even though I have a health condition that makes it low which is bad. They gave me a med called droperidol that I was allergic too !! I was pressing the nurse button over and over feeling like passing out cause my reaction to it and no one answered! Left with no help and felt absolutely worse than when I went in.

I was seen quickly. I was able to talk with a nurse, PA, and a doctor about my issue. I was given Xrays immediately upon arrival, and they were reviewed by a doctor and the results were available on the UCHealth portal quickly. Everyone from the intake desk to the radiologist, the nurses to the doctor, were friendly and took my injury and pain level seriously. A wonderful ER unit.

I went to the ER as I developed a case of Covid on the plane from Florida to Colorado Springs. When I arrived my blood oxygen was in the 70s and 80s. My temperature was elevated. My sister's doctor recommended the ER. From the moment we arrived, I was well taken care of. All of the personnel from greeters in the ER to nurses to doctors and specialists, were very kind and reassuring. They made me feel safe and comfortable. They prescribed at-home oxygen, which has been a lifesaver. I appreciate the attention and professionalism shown to me and my family. Thank you.

I was very sick while in town and my husband had to call an ambulance to get me from our hotel room to the emergency department. They got me right in. They were very nice and took great care of me. The doctor was very reassuring with my grandson who was really scared. I had the best ED experience!
