So many sketchy people filling up the waiting room and causing problems for both patients and staff. Lots of them aren’t there to be seen and just want a place to sleep. I’d rather them inside the hospital than to freeze to death in the winter time, but it means there are few people in the waiting room that are ACTUALLY there for emergency services that are getting ignored in favour of wrangling these people.

The cleanliness of the waiting room is disgusting, specifically the toilets. I wouldn’t recommend using the bathroom toilets unless you want to risk contracting something - the lids are stained and the bathroom itself just reeks of crack and piss.

The only thing positive about this experience is that the nursing staff were receptive to my worsening pain and the help I received from Dr. Long. He’s a very friendly and enthusiastic doctor that’s thorough in reassuring your concerns. Excellent bedside manner.

Last sunday I waited for 8 hours , which is fine because I know the state of our medical system... but I FINALLY get to see a doctor and he totally dismissed me, He told me in the future to go into emergency early in the morning and never go on Mondays or tuesdays.... like anyone has a choice when they need EMERGENCY SERVICES the charge nurse told me I had an infection, and he sent me home with nothing!!!! I had to go to my family doctor the next day and he prescribed me antibiotics that I should have been given. The doctor was rude, and I can not believe that some doctors are so unbelievably heartless.

The wait times have gotten to the point where it’s pretty much always a guaranteed 6 hours at minimum, with majority of the times reaching 10 hours + Even if you come in for something you get admitted a week for. The fact you rarely get a bed after these brutal wait times is absolutely ridiculous as well.

This hospital was so clean and innovative 💡...I wish all hospitals in the city could be like the U of A. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Willing to answer all and every question I had. My mom went in for gallbladder removal. She was nervous at first, but the warmth of the hospital atmosphere made her feel at ease and the surgery was a success. Thx u U of A for taking care of my mother!

Worst wait time ever took wife in as it said 3 hour wait time left work picker her up brought her In With suspected ruptured appendix arrived at 12:30 pm Friday afternoon we were in the waiting room for 6 hours kept asking what the hold up is this could be life threatening. Kept asking what the time would be to have something done. They finally put us in the back room as I think we were causing a disturbance finally at 9 pm my wife was given some morphine then at 930 she was triaged agen for the 3rd time still waiting kept telling them severe pain in the abdomen kept asking how long as it’s been 12 hours now it is now 12am at night and being told the hospital is at a stand still like wtf 12 hours no dr no imaging nothing how can a hospital be at a stand still is my question…..

me and my girlfriend went in for some severe lower back pain on her end. causing her legs to be numb from the waist down, due to a decently severe dislocation in 2-3 places. i believe we sat in a room together for at least 12 hours. 8 of those hours she was in excruciating pain and the last 4 due to the subtle movements the joints realigned, 12 hours of both of our days wasted, i wouldn’t recommend this place if you got a paper cut

waiting over 14 hours just to see someone. when I finally aw someome, the doctor was very nice qnd friendly and informative. However the nurse was I credibly pushing to get my outf bed. kept telling me to hurry up and leave. then having security make sure I leave. while still in a lot of pain is ridiculous.

It was years back I had to go University of Alberta ER for myself. I remember waiting from 10:00PM to 6:00AM next morning before I was be able to see a doctor.
For the same reason I ended up going to University ER today at 6:00PM
Triage, blood works,ECG done pretty fast. Then waited 6 hours to see a doctor and evaluate the test results. Unfortunately front stuff said that it may take 9 hours to see a doctor. Then second time I left without seeing a doctor.
All I can say is that Alberta Health Care System is failing and ıt is failing really bad.
