So I had to rewrite this review several times because it exceeded character limits. Lol I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you who helped me. I’m bombarded constantly with a lot of negative reviews, articles, and news in regards to Black people (esp women) and their experiences in hospitals. Because of this, being at the hospital makes me very nervous, but I have to say I had a great experience at this hospital and ER. I was a patient here on 08/11. I came in at 5 AM with appendicitis. -The first nurse who saw me was named Nurse Matthew Strong. He was literally a strong muscular looking nurse so his name suits him! He was kind and prompt and respectful! He even said my name right! He had cool tattoos too! -Next I was seen by a medical student named Jordan and he was very kind and empathetic towards my pain. He took my pain concerns seriously and let me know next steps.
-Nurse Lauren was the nurse who put my IV in. She was patient and explained everything before she did it.
-Nurse Michael R. was great! Upbeat, cheerful, kind, and patient! He was a great listener and came to the room promptly each time he was requested. He administered my pain meds into my IV and brought me blankets and pillows. He was kind to my young daughter as well! He was definitely one of my favorite nurses of the day!
-Angela and Hannah in radiology were great! Cheerful, patient and kind. They got my daughter some toys to play with along with a book and some stickers. -Azeez A. was nurse that gave me my meds and checked my vitals! Very kind man with a great, kind smile. He always entered the room with a smile on his face.-Nurse Jill (not sure of her last initial) was very professional and informative. She is the nurse that informed me, after all of my tests were back, that I definitely had appendicitis, so I’d have to have my appendix removed that day! She reassured me that the surgeon performing the surgery later on that night, Dr. Harmon, was an excellent, kind, efficient surgeon and everything would be okay! I really appreciated that encouragement because I’d never had stomach surgery before. Next, I was wheeled over to the East Building to prepare for my surgery. There, I met the OR team. -My surgeon Dr. Harmon was very kind and patient. Anesthesiologist nurse CRNA Lisa T. had amazing energy and was super cheerful and nice. -My other anesthesiologist Dr Greg Vaughn was kind and informative as well. They talked me through each and every step so that I wasn’t surprised by what was going on. -Dr. Bao is the nurse who kindly held my hand right before my procedure. -Yetunde was my nurse following my procedure. She was so nice and helpful and she was one of my favorite nurses too! She always checked on me and talked to me and even held my hand when I had to get my blood drawn again. -The only person I had a bad experience here with was “Burgess” the male phlebotomist (person who draws blood) of Unit 8A who did my blood draw in the morning. He had ZERO bedside manner. He was so cold and dismissive. No smiles, no reassurance, just arrogance and impatience. I was really anxious getting my blood drawn and he did nothing to ease my nerves, only angrily huffed, reminding me over and over again that he had to hurry up so he could get going. He was quite mean. Out of all of my time here at the hospital, he was the meanest person I had the displeasure of coming into contact with. At least my nurse Yetunde held my hand throughout.
- Nurse Phil was my last nurse and he was super helpful and kind! He went above and beyond and even called me when I left something my heating pad at the hospital.
- Nurse Shone was kind as well. Asking me about my baby girl and if she needed anything. She gave me two hugs and told me I was a lovely patient. Said goodbye to me when I left! -Aleauh was my patient transport out of the hospital (via wheelchair). I had a great chat with her and she was also kind and patient. I told her that I liked her name! I wanted to thank you all for helping me. As soon as I’m able, I’m hand delivering thank you cards for each of you!

Visited for am abcess. Never got a room. Was treated on gourney in hallway. Recieved my bill and it was twice what the insurance company said I need to pay. Used their pharmacy was supposed to recieve 7 days of 4 pills a day. I recieved 21 pills total. Do NOT risk your life here. I reccomend an established center where Doctors have real experience.

A tale of two receptionists. When we got there the lady was very impolite and very unhelpful. She made someone short of breath repeat her name 3 times before asking me to spell it. When the nurse came to take her i asked what i should do, she said i couldn't go back there but the nurse was apparently waiting for me. My anxiety was through the roof.

Gave one extra star for the receptionist that relieved her who was kind and understanding, exactly what you'd want in an ER

I was seen here twice this year. Those were the worst ER visits I have ever had. It's expected to have long wait times in the ER. But 8+ hours is over the top and ridiculous. If I had received good care it would have been worth it. But the staff were inattentive. They were also extremely rude and unprofessional. I overheard them disparaging other patients, particularly those there with mental health concerns. They complained about them loudly and mockingly. It's very sad that healthcare professionals would treat patients in such a manner.

Unless you have a serious issue, save the time and go elsewhere. I left after waiting three hours to get an X-ray. The staff and the triage nurse all did a great job and made me feel cared for, so props to them!

By far the worst experience I've had in an ER. Sat in the back door 3+hours couldn't even get an ice pack. When I called the nurse for the 5th time they must not have realized my door is open and could hear Lynette and the guy over the intercom going over which excuse to use before she told him to tell me she'd be in shortly because she didn't feel like getting up at the moment. Will be filing a formal complaint with management and the state in the next couple hours. After what just happened to me and what I witnessed happening to other patients while I was there, there's no way in hell this place can be allowed to function in such a manner.
